***Fiona***

I walked down the school corridors, knowing that everyone was making a rather wide path for me so as not to bump into me accidentally.

I knew that Tricky was beside me, as she was during all my trips between classes and to lunch. She was hired help by my family, here to get me to and from classes, make sure nobody bullied me in the halls and to be there to help if something just went wrong in general.

Of course, usually nothing ever did. The kids in Domino High were nice as far as I could tell, though I'd only been here a couple of days. I never heard anyone laugh, nobody had yet to shove me in the halls but most of all people steered clear of me.

I was okay with that.

"No, I'll see you later, I'm going to be late for cla--oh!"

I'd heard the boy yelling in the hall as he came towards me before suddenly he was slamming into me, both of us hitting the ground. I could hear Tricky yelling at the boy but I quickly shushed her before pulling myself to my feet a bit unsteadily.

"I'm so sorry! I wasn't watching whe-"

Cutting him off, I quickly waved him away. "You're fine, but hurry to class or you'll be late."

His voice sounded nice, still very young or perhaps just a bit feminine but it was a voice that, as cheesy and odd as it sounded, made my ears happy. It was weird, I'd never heard anything like it before, never had someone whose voice made me feel light and my stomach fluttery.

"Right, sorry! Thank you!" I heard feet slapping the floors, light and not a lot of time between each step. Short and slender then.

I sighed as Tricky fussed over me, and for the first time I heard someone actually whispering about me.

"Yugi pushed her to the ground, I heard. Poor Fiona, having to deal with bullies like that, I never thought Yugi would bully someone but especially not a blind chick."

Blinking, I tilted my head slightly as I sat in my desk. It was my second to last class, World History but most students thought it was Gossip 101.

"He didn't push me, he accidentally ran into me," I corrected gently, vaguely glancing in their direction just as the bell decided to ring, letting us know it was time for our last class of the day.

I had a music class, a bit of an odd thing for a blind person to have due to their relative inability to read the music; but I got along well enough. I was the only harpist in the school, and there were nearly two hundred students taking music and band this year.

"It's Friday, we're all a bit stressed and personally I just want to listen to music and relax. How does that sound to you?"

The class cheered, knowing they'd be having a free period to do whatever they would like to while a singularly unlucky person would be forced to play for the entire forty-five minutes.

Our teacher would put all our names into a hat, and during one of his free periods, he'd draw a name from it. If you had to be reprimanded for something repeatedly, instead of a detention, you got your name put in a second time, then a third, fourth, etcetera.

"Fiona Mitsikune."

The thing I loved about our teacher was that he never treated me differently to the other students, if my name was called, I was playing, regardless of my lack of eyesight.

He led me off to the side to sit on a small stool in front of my rather large harp. Our classroom never stayed the same so I was never able to memorize my way around, kids were always moving chairs or leaving instrument cases lying around.

"All right, our class off begins... Now!"

***Yugi***

Everyone had been giving me a hard time today, it was such an odd thing because usually students just left everyone else alone but I'd been getting sneered and glared at since early this afternoon.

I think it had something to do with that girl I'd accidentally ran into earlier, but I didn't understand why something so simple as that would cause something like this.

Sighing, I continued walking down the hall. I was only supposed to be going to use the bathroom but I stopped rather suddenly as I heard music.

Quiet, meaningful, melancholy.

I slowly stepped towards the music room, glancing in through the open door to where the sounds were coming from.

It was her! The girl I'd ran into earlier. Her straw-colored hair lay under a yellow hood that connected to her jacket. She wore yellow leggings with light green splashes across them and flats of the same green shade. Her eyes were closed as if she were reveling in the beautiful music she was creating from her very own fingertips.

Entrancing.

I stepped into the room without really realizing what I was doing and moved to sit in an empty seat adjacent to her. I noticed the teacher staring at me in amusement but it didn't quite register in my head why he was staring.

In that moment and in the ones that followed, she was all I wanted to notice or understand.

A shrill bell startled me out of my reverence and I realized too late that it meant class was over. I'd been sitting and listening to the music for more than a half hour!

"You played amazingly well," I said as I stayed seated while she slowly ended her song.

"Thank you. You're not in my class; why are you here?" The girl still had her eyes closed, making me wonder how she could know I wasn't in her class without seeing me. I suppose my voice could easily give me away but it was human nature to stare at whatever had its attention.

"I heard you playing and came in to listen. Also I suppose to apologize for running into you earlier, and to thank you for letting it be. I wasn't late because you just brushed me off, so thanks!"

"I knew I recognized your voice!"

Her eyes opened hurriedly as she grinned, showing off her teeth which were just slightly crooked but nicely white.

Her eyes were a pale blue, paler than anything I had ever seen; almost like she was...

Oh.

"Hey, you okay?" She waved a delicate yet slightly calluses hand almost in front of my face, though she was slightly off. Her hand was actually waving about a foot to the left of my face.

Smiling, I pressed one finger to her arm and pushed so that her hand now waved directly where it should have been.

"I'm fine. I was wondering if you wanted to have lunch with me and my friends tomorrow? They're amazing, you'll love them."

"Um yeah! Sounds awesome, I'll see you then..uhm.. I don't know your name."

I nearly face palmed at the fact that we hadn't introduced ourselves. "Yugi Motou."

"Fiona Mitsikune, nice to meet you."

Once more, her hand was a bit too far to the side, so I slowly pushed it back to where it should have been as we both grinned.

"Nice to meet you too."

I could tell this was the start of a beautiful, yet maybe slightly deformed, friendship.

Beautiful.
