Heart of the Cards [COMPLETED]

Mystical Elf:

She was upset, she'd never been so upset in her entire life. How could he Do that to her? Why? What had she ever done to him that would make him hurt her this way?

She'd been crying since she found them, scattered all over her floor in hundreds of little pieces; her entire collection.. Gone.

He'd always been a bit mean, always rude and sometimes hateful. He liked to hurt her feelings but he always made sure she had what she wanted at the same time.  All she'd ever wanted were cards. She collected Duel Monster cards, specifically spellcasters and fairies/elves, and even more specifically: Mystical Elf's.

She wasn't sure what it was about the card, but she was drawn to it, she made it a point to even go to all the conventions dressed as her, and she had over two hundred Mystical Elf cards.

Today was the biggest convention yet, and she had planned to go and show off her large collection but when she came out of her dressing room; all dressed up and ready to go, she went in to her room and found them.

Sniffling pitifully, she'd picked up the pieces of her collection, trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart at the same time.

She hated him, she realized; walking down the road towards this small card shop that many of her friends spoke about.  She'd never been in before but she was desperate now; she was in her costume and should have left already but she had no cards.  She needed at least two Mystical Elf's to complete her deck so she could at least duel while she was there.

Sighing as she came upon the card shop, she dabbed at her eyes to make sure she didn't ruin the blue paint on her skin. Stepping inside, she did her best to smile at the boy who greeted her so kindly despite her odd state of dress.

"Welcome! How can I help you?"

"I need some Mystical Elf's.. All mine were ruined."

"All of them? Aren't you the girl who had the largest collection? You had two of the three special editions; didn't you?"

"I was the girl. Anyways, I'm supposed to be at a convention," she replied, trying to put a barrier up against her emotions to stop the flood of tears that were threatening to come. "I really need those cards."

"How many do you need?"

"At least two, but if you have more I'll by them. I have to start my collection all over anyway."

"I'll find all that we have!"

It was several minutes later when Yugi Motou returned, clutching in his hand a single measly card with slightly frayed edges.

"I'm sorry.. This is all I could find."

With those words, the small, fragile girl who was barely keeping her emotions in check, crumbled. Fat tears rolled quickly down her cheeks as she attempted to buy the card only to have Yugi give it to her free of charge.

Politely thanking him, she rushed out of the shop. She wiped away her tears, paying no mind to the blue flakes that fell off her face as she hurried down the street.

"Wait! Hey wait!"

She nearly didn't stop, her mind told her there was no way whoever it was was speaking to her but her feet slowed anyways and her head turned.

The boy from the card shop ran towards her, a couple of small slips of paper clutched in his hands as he ran towards her.

"I..-" he stopped, stooping low to place his palms on his knees. His breath came out in fast pants before he began to calm and spoke again. "I found these, they're my old cards but I never use them. I hope you're able to start your collection again!"

His hand placed the two cards into her own, smiling widely at her astonished gaze.

One of the Mystical Elf's were a special edition.. The last special edition.

"Thank you! I promise to returned them after the convention!"

"You can keep them, put them to good use. I'm sorry yours were destroyed."

"Wow.." Quickly she hugged the boy, kissing his now blushing cheeks quickly before grinning; her tears were long forgotten now. "You're the best! I promise to make it up for you! I have a lot of cards, I'll let you look through them one day and pick out whichever you want!"

"You don't have to.. But uh, maybe we could hang out sometime? I'm Yugi by the way!"

"I'm Cynna. I'd love to; for now though, I have to get to my convention! Thanks again Yugi!"
