It didn't take long before we arrived at a small village. It had already gotten pretty dark so the lights inside the small cottages were prominent. There were still a few children running around, but the parents seemed to be slowly ushering them inside.

We were walking along a small path which was slightly light up by a few lampposts. The lights were flickering on and off and most of them were not standing in their original vertical position. I looked around me, the houses looked pretty decent, but looked cramped up.

Elli took me to a cute cottage, it seemed to be best in shape compared to the others. It was surrounded by trees, separating them from the neighbours. The front yard was empty, with a few bushes on the sides.

I looked at Ellie to see him looking at the ground, his face showed a weird emotion.

"This my house, it's nothing compared to the castle but this is all we can afford"

This is why he was embarrassed? He was so silly. I would trade living here with living in the castle without a second doubt.

"Ellie you're so silly" I giggled "I love it. I wish I lived here growing up!''

He looked at me with surprise in his eyes then adoration. I just smiled at him, trying to show it was okay. We slowly walked towards the front door, which actually had a lock in contrast to the other houses we had passed by.

"It's pretty lonely up there. I never had a friend growing up and I used to dream of living in a place exactly like this" I confessed while walking to the door. I looked down, suppressing the tears threatening to fall. This made him look at me, I gave him a forced smile, not wanting him to notice how it affected me.

Suddenly I felt warmth spreading around me like a blanket. I looked up shocked to see Elli hugging me, his arms were around my middle and his face was pressed in my hair. I hugged him back with the same ferocity, enjoying my first embrace. I pulled him tighter against me wanting to freeze this moment. The unfamiliar warmth was comforting and his sudden gesture made me inexplicably happy, even though I had just met him and he practically kidnapped me. Well, I don't think that's the truth, since I'm not here unwillingly anymore.

"You have me as a friend now, Bethy. You're not alone anymore" He mumbled in my hair.

My face was stretched into the biggest grin of my life as my eyes start to get wet, again. My first real friend.

"Ehum" The sound of someone clearing a throat pulled us apart.

I looked up to see another guy, he looked to be a few years older than Elli. Instead of owning light blond locks like Elli, he had dark brown hair with eyes to match. His eyes seemed to be assessing me, confusion clear in his eyes.

"Elliot, who is this?" His voice was deep and sexy. I felt my cheeks heat up again because of my unusual thoughts. This did not go by unnoticed by them, they both chuckled at the sight of my by now most likely tomato red cheeks. I decided to avert the attention from my cheeks and introduce myself.

"Hey, I'm Elizabeth. Elliot here" I pointed towards Elli "apparently decided it was a good idea to kidnap me and bring me here"

"Kidnap, you say? It looked like you were getting pretty cozy just a minute ago" He said as the corners of his lips curl upward forming into a smirk. The same stupid smirk Elliot had during our encounter, the stupid smirk I so desperately wanted to wipe off his handsome face.

"This isn't funny

"This isn't funny. I'm serious" I said angrily as I crossed my arms trying to get my point across. In return, he lets out a laugh, not taking me seriously at all.

"Elliot, why did you bring her here? Don't get me wrong I don't mind, she's pretty entertaining" As he said this he leans against the door frame and I couldn't help but appreciate his muscles bulging as he does so.

Pushing my irritation aside, I decided to walk up to him and give him my hand, in hopes he would shake it and we could introduce ourselves. I was really curious to get to know his name.

"Let me clarify, I'm princess Elizabeth. What's your name?" This was probably a mistake, judging from his reaction. In the next following seconds, different emotions were visible in his eyes. First, confusion, after confusion this emotion changed to realisation and recognition and finally to anger, the most prominent and scariest of them all. His dark brown eyes were blazing with fire as he pushes past me and heads straight towards Elli.

Rude. I still don't know what his name is.

I turned around and looked back at Elli. Poor Elli, he looked ready to pee himself. I would hate to be in his place. I would have laughed at his state had it not been for the murderous eyes of this mysterious, handsome stranger.

He grabbed Elli's arm, harshly whispered something inaudible in his ear, which must have been pretty scary as Elli's face turned a ghostly white, and practically threw him inside. Next he looked at me only to let out a frustrated sigh, running his hand over his hair. The anger seemed to be slightly softening at the sight of me, for which I was very thankful.

"I swear, that boy is going to get himself killed"

Next, he gently grabbed my hand and lead me inside. My hands felt like they were on fire. Tiny tingling sensations hitting the surface of my hands on the area where our skin met each other. I looked up at him, blushing in surprise as he leads me inside and closes the door behind him.

This took an unexpected 180 degree turn.
