I snuggled closer into the blankets, trying to completely bath in the amazing scent they provided. My sleep was peaceful so I should have been feeling better but I didnt. In the contrary, I kept shivering and I felt weaker than ever before. My head was aching and I started sitting up, rubbing my head. My hands were trembling and I felt more exhausted than before. My throat felt dry so I decided to get up and get a glass of water.

I mustered up all my strength and tried to get up. I planted my feet on the ground and slowly started walking.

I felt my head spinning and my vision started to become blurry, as I tried to grab something for support, I accidently knocked over something and a second later I heard a loud crash.

Last thing I saw was the floor and heard a voice calling my name:

"Elizabeth!"

***

"She probably got sick when she was outside. She's been asleep ever since she fainted"

"She will be okay right?"

"It's just a fever. She just needs to rest"

I heard faint masculine voices as I woke up. I fluttered my eyes open and groaned because of the intense pain in my head. I felt someone grasping my hand and I looked up to the person, Elli.

"How are you feeling? You had me so worried. Don't ever scare me like that again, okay?"

I tried sitting up to answer him but my arms felt powerless. Elliot saw this and helped me up by my armpits, like a little kid.

"What happened? I don't remember?" My voice sounded so fragile, even to myself, I wanted to cringe.

Elliot looked at me with simpathy.

"You fainted and it looks like you have a fever. How long were you out there for?"

That's why my head throbbed and I felt so weak. I tried to make my voice sound more normal and answered.

"Uhm.. I really don't know. I had ran away and was near a lake when I heard the rebel's approaching. So, I hid in a tree for, I guess, 2 days or so."

I felt exhausted after talking so much, which was very unusual for me. They both frowned and kind of looked concerned.

"How did you escape?" Elliot asked.

"They left after a while"

"Probably to the gathering in Old New York. You got lucky" Samuel said, not looking at me with his usual intense gaze but reather with a what softer look. And honestly, I couldn't decide wich one I liked best.

"What gathering?" I asked confused. Getting as much information about them is my best option for now. So, I can get set up my plan and avenge Clarissa.

"Their leader, Vincent Rebel, has found his wife. She ran away some years ago"

"Why would she run away?" Truly curious.

"No one really knows. But rumours say she didn't approve of his plans and wanted a divorce but Vincent was too obsessed with her to let her go"

I wanted to ask further about his plans, and about the kingdom itself. Sure, I had read countless of books regarding the kingdom but the last few days had proven to test my knowledge.

I would have asked further but my head was exploding and I was sure I would forget what he told me, so it would be of no use.

"I'm sorry if I'm a bother to you" I decided to say, not quiet meeting their eyes. I felt guilty about staying here and using their space without any contribution form my side and now, I was sick, making me feel even worse about my stay.

"Quit saying that, you're not"

Suprisingly, Samuel said this. I looked up at him confused. Yesterday he was hell bend on getting me out of his house. Elli just looked at him with a smirk and teasing eyes.

"What changed your mind, huh?" Elli said. He seemd to be teasing him.

Samuel let out a huff and looked at him with annoyed eyes.

"Quit being such a pain in the ass and make yourself useful and go get some soup"

"Asshole" This was Elli's reply as he left the room.

As he left, samuel walked to my direction. A few steps from the bed he stopped, taking his time to observe me.

"You don't remember us, do you?"

Remember?

"What do you mean?" I aksed confused. He looked almost disspointed with my answer.

"It's nothing"

"Oh"

I looked down hiding from his returned intense gaze.

"You should eat the soup and get some sleep after. I don't know how long it will take for your fever to get down, but for now just get some rest."

"Okay" I replied quietly, not missing the difference in his tone compared to before.

He was about to leave when I grabbed his wrist, his behaviour not sitting well with me.

"Is everything alright?"

I saw a hint of a smile forming and instantly smiled, happy with that.

"It's okay, beautiful. Don't worry about it"

"If somethings bothering you, you can tell me, if you want" I replied, not too content with his answer.

We were once again lost in each others eyes when a clear of a throat snapped us back to reality.

"I got the soup" Elliot said with his annoying little smirk, aware of his timing.

"I'll leave you with her" With that he left the room. I looked dissapointed up at Elli. He just ruffled my hair and laughed at me.

"You've been here for one night and you're already getting it on with my brother. You're full of suprises, princess" He winked.

I slightly hit his stomach and looked at him with narrowed eyes.

"I am not"

"Suree'' He said in a sing-song voice.

"I'm serious" I'm not.

"Just eat your soup. Don't bother lying to me"

I just chose to ignore him, rolled my eyes and began eating my soup. It smelled amazing and tasted just as good as it smelled. The amazing flavour of chicken soup made me aware of my hunger and I slurped down the whole plate in a few minutes.

Elli just looked at me disgusted.

"Is this how princesses eat?"
