Chapter 1: Bernadine Stones

Clara's P.O.V.

I walked to Art Class with the Gemstones, after we passed the locker hall, we broke into smaller groups according to our class.

I was with Anayla and Carisse.

I sat down in my usual chair.

I heard a spit wad fire towards my seat.

I caught it when I clapped my hands together.

It's got Derek's name written all over it.

I rolled my eyes.

I wonder what Bea sees in him.

His looks and popularity probably.

I sighed.

I flicked the spit wad back to him, and he just looked at me with innocent eyes, like he didn't do anything.

I rolled my eyes, and flashed him a smile.

I returned my attention to the blackboard.

Mr. Louis Taville came in.

"Good morning class!" He greeted.

"Good morning sir!" Everyone half-shouted.

"I see everyone has had a hearty breakfast!" He beamed. "Sit down."

"Thank you sir!" Everyone thanked then sat down.

"Now today, we will weave on paper." He said, putting down garbage bags.

"Inside these bags are strips of paper, you will get a handful of two colors, or more, it depends on you, and you will put them in the ziplock bag I am to give you, and if you need glue or scissors, come up to my table and get one. Line up and I will give you each a ziplock and paper you will start picking colors, each bag is labeled."

Everyone stood up and lined up in front of Mr. Taville.

I was first of course.

Without a word all of us followed his instructions and waited for his directions before weaving except for the newbie lass, Bernadine Stones.

Bernadine started weaving right away, she looked quite happy.

"Please don't get caught, please don't get caught!" I murmured, crossing my fingers.

I really hate it when people cry after just having fun, I cry or shed a tear after those kind of scenes in the movie.

"Ms. Stones!" Mr. Taville exclaimed."Put down your strips and your glue."

Bernadine slowly put down her materials.

"Why did you start immediately?" Mr. Taville questioned.

"B-because I...." Bernadine stuttered.

"Because what Stones?" Mr.Taville asked, his brows curved.

"B-because I thought th-that we sh-should start." Bernadine stuttered, her body shaking.

"You thought?! That's preposterous! What if you were supposed to fold the paper before weaving hmm?"  Mr.Taville threatened.

Bernadine ran out of the classroom, with tears trickling down her face.

"Ms. Rosevelt, please help her get herself together." Mr. Taville told me.

"Yes sir!" I answered.

Have I forgotten to tell you no one knows my real last name? Von Pelt.

Anyway, i'm always told to get people back together, because I'm in Gemstones, and the leader of the group at that.

Gemstones are like the group of officers, that try to keep the school together.

"Bernadine, please come out." I pleaded when I got to the lavatory.

"I don't want to go back to Taville's class." She sniffled.

"It's not your fault, you didn't know how we do it here." I comforted.

"I should have known, I've been here for days already, I should know your ways." She insisted.

"Your taking Prestine High, a step at a time, you can't just stride your way through school, you have to be patient. There's still lots of time."

"Really? Okay, I'll come with you." She finally gave in.

Bernadine opened the door.

"Come on let's go." I escorted her back to the classroom.

"By the way, what clique are you?" I asked while we were walking.

"I have no clique." She said after a while. "I've been sitting on the floor since I got here, no one allows me to sit on their table, but my brother, he's a different story, I mean, he's already popular!, he's even got a girlfriend."

"I'll help you find a clique and next popularity!" I smiled. "This is going to be fun!"
