Chapter 7

The boys walked Claire and I up to our room, pausing at the door, telling me that they'd wait here, all of us confident that I would be able to stay out longer.

Claire scampered into the room as soon as the door was open, giving our parents a happy hug. They hugged her back and asked how dinner was. When Claire had finished gushing about how much fun they'd had, I turned to my dad.

"Could I stay out with the boys a little longer?" I asked.

Both my parents looked at each other, knowing it was getting late, but, clearly trusting that I wouldn't be doing anything stupid.

After a minute of silent discussion, they both turned to me, smiling. "Of course," they said. "But be home by one."

I nodded, excitedly, giving both of them hugs. Last, I turned to Claire, who was rubbing her eyes, clearly exhausted.

"I'm glad you had fun today," I said, pulling her in for a hug.

"I did!" she said, beaming.

With that, I said a final goodbye to everyone, dropped my purse in my suitcase, spritzed myself with more perfume, and stepped out of the room. All five boys were seated against the wall, and simultaneously looked up at me when I appeared.

"Well?" Harry asked.

"They said yes!" All five boys jumped up and cheered. "But I have to be back by one."

They all nodded, and pulled me in for a group hug. I hugged them back, pleased with their excitement.

"So where are we going?" I finally asked when everyone had pulled apart except Niall who still had one arm looped around my waist.

The boys all smiled at each other, obviously knowing something I didn't. "It's a surprise," Zayn said.

I nodded, figuring it would just be better not to push it, despite the fact that I hated surprises. Instead, I followed the rest of the boys to the elevators, and back down to the lobby.

We clambered back into the limo when it pulled to a stop in front of us, now with a smidge extra room since Claire wasn't with us.

Instead of using my phone, this time, Louis switched on the radio, and we all belted out various songs from the top 40.

Apparently, the limo driver already knew where we were headed because he didn't have to ask. I just watched out the tinted windows as we passed the nightlife of San Diego. There were all kinds of people on the streets, businessmen finally on their way home from an extremely late night, girls dressed in very skimpy costumes usually with other, similarly dressed girls or guys. There were rather sketchy looking guys with tattoos galore aand baggy clothes, either doing drugs or smoking on the street corners.

The whole area was illuminated by both street lights and the neon signs hung in virtually every window, be it restaurant or store. I guess New York isn't the only city that never sleeps.

We pulled up a few minutes later to a large building with a bright neon sign declaring it to be named Inferno. The whole building seemed to pulse with the music that was being blasted inside it. I recognized this place. I'd never been before, but passed it quite a few times. It was a teen club for people between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one.

As we stepped out of the limo, I turned to Niall, a confused expression on my face. "I'm not eighteen yet," I said.

He nodded. "But they're usually pretty lenient when it comes to celebrity guests and their dates."

I nodded too, I guess it made sense, but I was still a little uncertain. I wondered what I would tell my parents when they asked what we had done. I vowed right here that I wouldn't get drunk or even let the boys get drunk, but have a good time being sober. Besides, I'd always been more of a goody-two-shoes, and the thought of alcohol didn't even appeal to me.

Niall took my hand again, and we followed a practically skipping Harry and Louis to the entrance. I guess they were excited.

Inside, was a small hallway where you were obviously supposed to check in. It was separated by a set of double doors that were made to be soundproof but only muffled the music slightly. As we walked towards the podium where a tall man, probably in his early thirties, was standing, a few guests slipped in and out of the double doors causing the hallway to be briefly blasted with music.

The man, somehow, recognized the boys and greeted them with a warm welcome. They explained to him that I was just short of eighteen, but he brushed it off with a smile saying that as long as I didn't drink, it was fine by him. To seal the deal, all five boys assured him that none of them would be drinking, gaining them status as "good boys" in the mans eyes.

The man smiled, we paid him, and he told us we could go on through. We passed him, and, for the first time, I noticed two large men in suits standing at either side of the door, bodyguards. Physically, they were quite intimidating, but they, politely, opened the doors for us and told us to have a good time. I guess they didn't want any unwanted guests to be sneaking in.

As soon as the doors opened, the music hit us like a frying pan to the face. To the far right was a long bar, occupying almost the entire wall. In the back were some booths where various people were talking and laughing. In the back right was a small door labeled "lounge," probably where you could sit and mingle where it was a little quieter.

In the remaining space around us, on the left wall stretching to the middle, was a huge dance floor. A DJ sat behind a table, large pair of headphones on his head, laptop in front of him. Huge speakers, were hung on the walls as well as standing up in places where they wouldn't be knocked down. The ceiling was a maze of flashing lights, colored lights, disco balls, strobe lights, and every form of light imaginable, giving everything a much better, party feel. The walls all around were strewn with pictures of famous bands as well as mirrors, probably to help reflect the lights, and neon signs.

I felt Niall's hand clasp around mine as LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem blasted out of the speakers. He started tugging me towards the dance floor. I reached behind me, taking Louis' hand, he did the same with Liam who took Harry's, and finally Zayn on the end, making a six person chain towards the dance floor.
