Chapter 8
We made our way all the way to the center, surrounded by people of every kind. Girls of every shape and size were flipping their hair around wildly, many grinding with any guy they could find. The guys of course were enjoying every minute of it, some holding bottles of beer in their hands. Most people's faces were pink, and shone with sweat from dancing so much. The only similarity between everyone seemed to be the big smiles. Every single person dancing had a huge grin spread across their face, obviously having a great time.
When we got to a small gap in the center, Niall pulled me next to him just as LMFAO was singing the chorus for the second time.
We all let go of each others hands and formed a somewhat lopsided circle. Following Louis big, smiled lead, we all started to do the pat the dog, screw in the lightbulb, some better than others.
Like everyone else, all six of us couldn't stop smiling. There was something about the place that just oozed a happy vibe.
When the song came to an end, everyone stopped dancing, some remaining on the dance floor, others wandering towards the bar or the lounge. Standing on my tip-toes, I leaned close to Niall's ear and told him I was going to get a water from the bar. He nodded and kissed me on the forehead with a smile.
Stepping away from the boys, I weaved my way through the crowd towards the bar. Surprisingly, everyone was pretty polite, and moved out of my way.
I was just reaching the bar when the DJ started playing the next song, Everybody Talks by Neon Trees.
The bartender was a man in his late-twenties. He had short, brown hair that was spiked up. I told him what I wanted, and he made his way over to the glasses. The bar, I noted, wasn't like a typical bar you'd find in a club. Since only a few people here were old enough to drink, there was a large array of soda flavors to chose from, as well as a bunch of drinks in a big cooler. I even noted a fountain machine of flavored waters.
"Hey," I turned my attention from the bar to a tall guy with dark hair standing in front of me. He wore a pair of black-rimmed glasses, and had a gray beanie on his head, causing his hair to do that sexy sweep to the side. His shirt was a blue v-neck, and he wore a simple pair of blue jeans and black DCs.
"Hi," I said, offering a friendly smile. I wasn't very used to guys approaching me, and, suddenly felt a little self conscious in my dress. Well, it wasn't that the dress made me feel unattractive, actually, just the opposite, it's just, in front of guys I, generally, become much more aware of my appearance, even if I wasn't interested.
"My name's Jake," his voice was deep, and if I hadn't been fully aware of being with One Direction, I would've thought he was hot.
"I'm Leah," I introduced myself.
The bartender came over after what seemed like longer than it should've taken to get water, and slid the glass across the bar to me.
I thanked him and gingerly brought the glass to my lips, careful not to spill.
Jake took a half-step closer, not taking his eyes off me and making me slightly uncomfortable.
"So, what's a pretty lady like you doing here by yourself?" he asked with a flirty smile.
"I'm actually not here alone," I said, tracing my finger around the rim of the glass.
"Oh?" he said, indicating for me to continue.
"Yeah," I chuckled, uncomfortably. "Believe it or not, I'm actually here with One Direction."
Jake chuckled too, clearly thinking I was joking. "Oh, are you?" he said, trying to play along.
I was just about to explain that I was serious when I felt a pair of arms snake their way around my waist, and someone's lips press softly against my neck.
"Keep moving, buddy, this is my princess," Niall's familiar voice spoke close to my right ear.
Jake's eyes widened, and his gaze briefly flicked to my own, not believing that I'd actually been telling the truth. Then, he walked away.
I giggled, and leaned back into Niall who pressed his lips to my cheek.
"One other thing you should know about me," he murmured into my hair. "I'm the jealous type."
"Me too," I lightly chuckled, leaning my head back onto Niall's shoulder, looking up at him.
Niall smiled and leaned down, sprinkling kisses across my forehead, then cheeks, once on the tip of my nose, causing me to giggle, and finally, lightly pressing his lips to mine. I smiled into the kiss, meanwhile, placing my water back onto the bar so I wouldn't spill it.
We pulled apart, and just stood there smiling at each other. I had never been happier.
Just when I thought the moment couldn't get any better, a familiar voice flowed out of the many speakers, singing the perfect song, Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran.
Niall unwound his arms from my waist, and took hold of my hand pulling me back to the dance floor.
I couldn't help but giggle, Harry and Louis were slow dancing as well as Liam and Zayn. Both pairs were holding each other at arms length, feeling too awkward to move closer, but over-exaggerating their dancing, causing me to burst out laughing.
We found a gap in the dancers who were now coupled off, tangled in each others arms.
Niall pulled me into him by my waist, placing his hands on the small of my back. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled his face down so our foreheads rested together, and I could look into his perfect, blue eyes.
"This feels like I've fallen in love, fallen in love, fallen in love," Ed sang as Niall looked into my eyes and mouthed the words back.
I knew I'd only really known Niall for a few days, but I felt that this song fit us almost perfectly.
Niall tilted his head down, so his lips were by my ear.
"Leah," he murmured just loud enough so I could hear over the music. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
I smiled and buried my head in his shoulder and nodded before pulling back and looking into his eyes.
He leaned in and pressed his lips to mine just as Ed sang "and you'll be my lady." That applied quite nicely, I thought.
When we pulled apart again, Niall leaned back down to my ear. "Does that mean that this will be our song?" he asked.
I beamed and, once again, looked up into his eyes. "I hope so," I said, wrapping my fingers around his tie, tugging on it slightly, and pulling his lips back down to mine.
