Paige's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You had to have your appendix out? No way."
We were sitting on my bed again criss cross applesauce across from each other, just talking in peace. We hadn't seen each other for a while because of Christmas, so we were just catching up on things, but we tended to get a little off topic.
"Yeah, when I was little, I had appendicitis."
"I don't believe you. Scar or it didn't happen."
He raised his eyebrows. "Seriously?"
"Yeah! I need the cold, hard facts."
He smiled and rolled his eyes. "Fine."
He took off his shirt slowly and glanced at me almost nervously. He looked good. You could tell his muscles were there, and his abs were not that hard to look at if you know what I mean. He pointed to a spot just below his stomach.
"Here it is." It was a raised white line, barely 2 inches.
"Not too bad. I've had bigger."
"Of course you have. Scar or it didn't happen."
I laughed. "Touché."
I rolled up my left sleeve and pointed to the long white scar that ran down the length of my upper and lower arm.
"This one is this biggest one. It's from an old field hockey incident. I have smaller ones that are still pretty impressive though."
He nodded. I reached out to touch his scar and he reached out to touch mine. I didn't have to reach out far to touch it since we were sitting so close.
"Were you scared when you went under?"
"Paige, I was like seven. I was terrified."
"Let me ask you another question. You have to promise to answer truthfully though!"
"Shoot."
"Are you scared about having your shirt off in front of me?" I grinned.
"Yes and no."
I raised my eyebrows questioningly. "Yes and no because..."
"Yes because it's you and no because it's just you."
"I get it. Hold on a sec."
I reached over to my desk and pulled out my retainer case. I popped it open and clicked my retainer into place.
"I hate wearing this in front of people so much, because it makes me talk weird, but it makes me feel the same way as you do."
I looked down at my hands.
"Not scared because it's just you and scared because it's you."
"I get the feeling." He tilted my chin up to his face using his hand. "I'm always nervous around you, but comfortable at the same time. Kind of like seeing an old friend that you've fallen in love with."
I blushed.
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?"
Andrew took a shaky breath and closed his eyes. "What I'm trying to say is that I love you." He said, opening his eyes and looking right into mine. "I love you and no one can get in the way of that. Not even my control freak mother."
I smiled. "Can you say that again? I'm sorry, I just-"
"I love you, Paige."
"I love you too, Andrew."
Andrew wrapped his arms around me and tried to pulled me in for a kiss.
"Wait a sec." I grabbed my retainer case again and put the retainer back in. "Okay!"
"God, I love you." Andrew breathed as he finally pulled me in for a kiss. I reached up and ran my hands through his messy hair, making it even messier. A few moments later, he pulled back to get a look at me. It was late at night, and I probably looked like crap. Apparently Andrew didn't think so. Andrew and I held eye contact for a few seconds, both of us staring at each other longer than normal. He pulled me in close for a hug. I buried my head on his shoulder. He did the same.
"I don't know what I'd do without you, Paige."
"Ditto."
