Kylene's POV

Dusty floors, old painted walls, abandoned armchairs, piles of wood, and broken windows.

Inside this old and restricted building, far from the crowded establishments, we found a place to stay. It’s not very comfortable, but we can’t be picky.

We came from another world. That’s the simplest way to explain our bizarreness.

To further explain why we’re here: we’re looking for the long-lost princess of the Dark Kingdom.

I am one of the princesses of the elemental kingdoms, the Dark Water. I was born possessing the power of Dark Water, making me a Dark Water user.

We’ve just arrived from another country. After searching there thoroughly, we decided to move to another place and waste no more time.

I have this bubbly and cheerful personality. As I roamed the building, I passed by a mirror. I couldn’t help but compliment myself cutie, gorgeous me! I even twirled around in front of the mirror, admiring my whole self.

I was cutely posing when someone flicked my forehead.

“Ouch! Ano ba?” I complained while rubbing my forehead.

“Tsk,” he gave me a warning look. “Lock up your mind, idiot. You’re too loud.”

That meant my mind was wide open he could hear and read everything, AGAIN.

“Okay na! Sakit mong pumitik, ah? Paano kung may mangyari sa napakaganda kong mukha? Ha?” I said, giving him a lecture.

I immediately retaliated, tapping his head and giving him a glare.

“How childish,” he commented. I raised my eyebrow, still sulking, and gave him a look of disdain.

As I turned my back, the temperature immediately spiked.

Huh?

A ball of fire appeared in front of me.

I screamed and instinctively ducked to avoid being hit.

“Why would you do that, Kurt? If I get hit, you’d lose your beautiful, cute princess!” I shouted at him, but the idiot threw another fireball at me.

AAAH! HELP! TULUNGAN NIYO AKO!” I mentally screamed to my companions.

DODGE

JUMP

EVASION

I did everything to dodge. It was exhausting!

Kurt wasn’t satisfied with just one fireball; he made it rain fireballs. They spread through the air, and anything could get hit.

Before we could all get burned alive, Eros, Suzy, and I created a defense shield.

Sometimes, Kurt just doesn’t think. What if one of us got hit?

I glanced toward the door of the old building. Oh my. A beautiful girl was there though a bit of a nerd.

My eyes widened as I saw a fireball heading straight for her. In my panic, I splashed water on her and immediately doused Kurt’s fireball to protect her. Afterward, I could only offer an awkward smile.

We quickly descended the old stairs to check on the girl. Ugh. She seemed grumpy. I’m in trouble now.

Kayesha's POV

I shut my eyes and waited, ready to be burned alive.

Instead of a fireball, cold water hit me. I was drenched. This is better than getting burned or dying. Tsk.

“Oh my!” screamed a girl, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps. “Are you okay?” she asked, her dark blue eyes and hair filled with concern.

“Yeah,” I answered lethargically, staring at my wet clothes.

“You’re cold,” she said, laughing shyly. “Well, you saw those fireballs, right? We don’t want to get hit. Let’s get out of here.”

“Let’s go,” I responded flatly.

“Huh?” she asked, probably not hearing me correctly.

“Hands,” I said, motioning to her hand that was still holding my wrist.

Once she let go, I walked away and headed straight to the parking lot.

Ano...” I heard a voice behind me. “About what you saw...” It was the girl and her group from the abandoned building.

“Can we keep that a secret?”

I was getting irritated by how they kept following me, so I just nodded.

“Hehe. Thank you!” she said, her voice filled with childlike excitement.

“I’m Kylene,” she introduced herself. “This is Kurt,” she pointed to the guy with dark red eyes and hair. “That’s Eros,” she pointed to a guy with dark green eyes and hair. “And lastly, Suzy,” she indicated the girl with almost dirty white hair.

“And you?” another voice chimed in. “Who are you? Why can’t I read your mind?” It was Eros.

Kayesha,” I introduced myself.

“Why can’t we read your mind?” Kurt asked again.

“IDK. Why does that matter?” I answered, uninterested.

“IDK? As in, I Don’t Know?” Kylene asked, beginning to get on my nerves with all her questions.

‘Wait!’

The voice wasn’t from anyone’s mouth.

Kylene!’ The voice, sharp and authoritative, made it clear someone was trying to control her.

‘Let me clarify something,’ Kylene responded, sounding like she was scheming. ‘You can hear me, right, Kayesha?’

Ignoring their puzzled looks, I met Kylene’s eyes. I saw the shock flash across their faces.

Kylene smiled. “I knew it. You can be trusted,” she began. “I have a favor to ask...” she said hesitantly.

My brows furrowed.

‘How do we deal with this? Kurt destroyed the old building, and we have nowhere to stay. Aaah! Hope she agrees to let us stay temporarily,’ I heard her thoughts. I suppose she didn’t know I could still hear her.

Ano... Kayesha, can we—”

“Yeah, stay at my house for the meantime,” I cut her off.

“WHAT THE! HOW DO YOU—OHHH NEVERMIND”

Kylene! Please control your inner voice!’ Suzy’s voice scolded her, sounding embarrassed.

The thing is, I only had my bike with me.

I dialed my butler’s number and asked him to come to the parking lot with a car to pick up these people.

“I’ll go ahead. Wait for the car,” I said as I hopped onto my bike and rode off.
