Leo decapitated a man, and held his head up by his hair so sport. The room fell silent.
"He made the wrong fucking choice," she said.
Everyone stared at her in shock. Leo had decapitated the king. Nobody said a word, until Libra rose from her hiding place.
"Daddy?" She ran over to the body. She shook it, took the head back from Leo and tried to put it back on. "Daddy? Daddy, please, come back. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Daddy, I don't want you to leave me. DADDY!"
Everyone watched as Libra desperately tried to wake up her father. The look of horror on her face was unparalleled. Virgo crept up behind her and touched her shoulder, but Libra just shook him off.
"Daddy, can we go home?" Libra said, holding her fathers hand. She shrunk away from the rest of the room. "I don't wanna be here anymore."
Virgo say in front of her. "Libra, sweetie, I think your dad's asleep," he said cautiously.
"When will he wake up?" Libra asked, holding her dad's hand in fear. She couldn't let go. He had raised her.
"Not for a while," Virgo replied, inching closer. "I think he's really tired."
"I am too," Libra said, sniffling. "Can I sleep?"
"Sure," Virgo said softly, slowly standing up. Libra felt like a doe. One wrong move would scare her away. He cautiously held out his hand. "I'll take you to your bedroom."
Libra hesitated, but took his hand. "Can Daddy come?"
"No, sweetie," Virgo replied, pulling her off the ground. "I think he's too comfortable. We don't want to put him into discomfort."
Libra nodded numbly, as if that all made sense. She pulled herself into Virgo's arms. "Okay. Can you carry me?"
Virgo nodded, and picked Libra up bridal-style. He walked out with all eyes on him. Libra has curled up into his chest. Her father was dead on the floor. All was still.
That's when Leo's knees buckled and she collapsed to the ground.
The soldiers scattered when the incident occurred. Most of her friends rushed over to help her. Capricorn was the one man who stood still in the midst of the chaos. He stared at the body on the ground. The way Libra reattached Cepheus's head made it look more natural. Less like his crush chopped it off.
For one minute in that battle, Capricorn saw a new Leo. It was a Leo he didn't want to have kids with. It was a Leo that scared him. Capricorn noticed that Gemini tended to Leo's head, while Scorpio checked her pulse. He noticed how Aquarius took off his cloak and used it as her pillow. As if she was fragile and important. As if she hadn't just cut off someone's head in cold blood.
Capricorn helped carry her to the infirmary. He set her on the bed and took off her armor. Underneath, she was still the girl he had fancied. She still braided her hair when training. She still wore a sports bra in bad weather. She still wore leggings. She looked so peaceful when she slept, so he tucked her in tight. He was afraid what would happen when she woke.
Capricorn stayed at her bedside for hours, non stop. After the day he had, he was exhausted. His vision was fading in and out of focus. He just wanted to sleep, but he wanted to be there when she woke up.
I suppose that's when he heard the voice. It was like Allah speaking to Muhammad, or like God speaking to Moses, or like Jesus coming out of Mary's womb being holy. Except all of this was B.C. so this was entirely new.
