"Nothing ever lasts forever" - Tears for Fears

Taurus stood in front of a crowd of her people. At her right hand was Sagittarius. He had a nice tan, having just gotten back from his vacation. At her left hand was Libra, who seemed pretty relaxed.

"Citizens of Flammae, I am your new queen!" Taurus shouted from the balcony. The citizens stared at her in confusion. Taurus glanced back at her boyfriend.

Sagittarius leaned forward and mumbled in her ear, "You forgot the first part about your dead dad, and all that."

"Oh, fuck," Taurus mumbled. She turned back to her people and smiled widely. "I may have forgot to mention some details. Your former king committed treason on the ground of Pax Universum. King Cepheus was executed during a battle. Today, I, the eldest daughter of King Cepheus II, take over his kingdom."

"My father was ruthless and uncaring man. He cared only if expanding his land and taking away our basic human rights," Taurus shouted. The whole world was silent in anticipation of what she would next say. "I want to change that."

The kingdom gave cheers until Taurus' words silenced them again.

"Let's give gays their marriage! Let's give women back their rights! More funding into schools, less into military! All of your kids will be free after being taken for this dreadful war!"

The world was rioting with joy as Taurus allowed them What was theirs. In the crowd, you could see some skeptics. People who liked how their world worked. But most were happy with the reforms.

"To get your kids back, my three top generals will be in front of the castle with lists and they will retrieve your kids for you!" Taurus shouted. The crowds all ran to the front of the castle.

Sagittarius sighed and walked back inside. He supposed his vacation was over, and it was really depressing. He was happy he could help so many kids. But honestly? He missed the seashore.

He met up with Capricorn and Leo, who smiled at him widely. It had been a nearly a week since the beheading of Libra's father. She was still weeping at nights, but she was strong. She kept fighting.

Capricorn slung an arm around Sagittarius' shoulder and grinned. "I was just talking to Leo. We should get drunk as fuck tonight."

Leo rolled her eyes. She had no armor on. Just her signature sports bra and shorts. It was summer again. Her dark hair was braided back. Her warm eyes chuckled.

"I think the last thing he needs is alcohol," Leo said, a small smile resting on her lips.

The walked through the echoing castle halls together. The reached the big oak double door that was being held open by some guards. The three friends walked over to their table, where different parents were waiting.

To Sagittarius it was strange. These three were fated to be enemies. Leo was supposed to be cold, calculating, and ruthless, just like her family before her. But when Sagittarius looked at her, all he saw was a strong young lady who felt too much and cared even more. Capricorn was supposed to be another casualty. But instead he rose up in the ranks and fought for his sister, and met the girl he loved along the way. Sagittarius was just another kid sold to Cepheus by his parents, but he survived, thrived, and got justice for him and kids like him.

There they were. Three people who were not meant to be friends, who got drunk, went on missions, and talked like they'd known each other for years. One look at them, and you'd say, "Hey, it's the three musketeers." And Sagittarius smiled at that thought, because he never assumed in the slightest that anything more than death could come out of war.
