Alternate title: Wedding Preparations pt 2
Pisces was totally not laying on his bed and crying. He wasn't crying about how he had no best man. He wasn't crying about Aries rejecting him. He wasn't crying about being forced into marriage.
Except he totally was.
Nebula was originally going to be his best woman, because the two had always been so close. After she passed, Pisces didn't have the heart to pick a replacement. When he thought about that, he would cry for hours on end. He missed his sister. They were an inseparable pair. Through no fault of his own, he was the only half left.
And Pisces hated it. He had this gut-wrenching feeling that he was totally alone. As if nobody else in the universe would understand. Like he was trapped in a glass box and his friends couldn't see in, but he could see out. His parents always told him that friends and lovers come and go, but your sibling always stays.
But she left. And he couldn't stop thinking that it was his own fault.
He knew he had to resort to his backup, Aries. But after knowing he was in love with his best friend, only to see the feeling wasn't mutual, was heartbreaking. Pisces was losing the ability to function. Whenever he fell asleep, Aries was holding hands with that guy. Whenever he stayed awake too long, it felt like his sister was there.
"Go to sleep, dumbass," he felt her say.
"I don't want to," he would reply. He would sleep anyways.
How could he even try to replace Nebula? Even with Aries, Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, And everyone else... would he ever be able to move past her?
She died for her people, Pisces knew that. He just figured it was better to live for them. He supposed it was too late to tell her now.
He heard a knock at the door. Pisces attempted to ignore it, but the knock sounded several more times. Pisces let out a long groan.
"Come on in, If you're so persistent," he shouted out the door. The door opened, but Pisces didn't bother looking up. "Hello, Libra."
"Yeah, you got the wrong guy," a masculine voice corrected. Aries.
Pisces rolled over, meaning to roll onto his back, but he rolled onto the floor instead. A groan escaped his mouth as Aries snickered.
"What do you want?" Pisces asked, pulling himself off of the floor. "Haven't you and the floor already made me suffer enough?"
"I suppose," Aries said, shrugging. "I have a funny story to tell you."
Pisces sighed and sat down next to Aries on the bed. "I'm curious. Tell me."
"So, after you met me and Darrel the other day, I went to see Gem. She said the oddest thing to me," Aries talked as Pisces paled. "She asked how I reacted to your confession. Now, I had to idea what she was talking about. When she realized that you chickened out, she immediately shut up. It's funny the way that turned out. Just as you tried to confess to me, I was trying to make you jealous."
Pisces blinked. He glanced at Aries up and down, and then looked around. "What are you saying?"
"Well, my dearest dumbass, I'm saying that I like you too," Aries explained. "That wasn't so hard was it?"
Pisces burst into tears. Aries wasn't sure what to do. Was it something he had said? Something he had done?
"You're such a fucking asshole," Pisces cried. "I'm so fucking in love with you and it makes me want to vomit."
"Pisces, I need you to talk to me. What's wrong?" Aries placed a hand on his shoulder, which Pisces quickly brushed off.
"What's wrong is that I'm getting married. What's wrong is that Nebula is dead. What's wrong is that you're the most beautiful person I've ever met in my life," Pisces ranted.
