"Come again soon!" Gemini waved as another customer left satisfied. She had a grin on her face. Rush hour was finally over.
The bell rang again and Pisces ran in, Aries in his trail. Pisces glanced around, making sure they were alone. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked at Aries, who shook his head.
"Listen, man, this won't end well. If you're parents—" Aries tried to warn him.
Pisces interrupted by turning to Gemini and saying, "I'm getting married. But I really don't want to. I'm in love with someone else."
"Oh, god. I'm really sorry about that, Pi—" Gemini cut in, before being interrupted by Pisces.
"You. That someone is you," Pisces said. He leaned over the counter and kissed her square on the lips, before she shoved him away.
She scoffed angrily at the attempt. "No, no it isn't. You don't fall in love with someone that quick, that's not how this works. This isn't some folklore forest, Pisces. Fairy Tales don't exist."
Pisces stepped away in surprise and nodded. Aries thought he seemed different, tense, panicked, afraid. He nodded again.
"I'm sorry," he said to her. "I'm sorry. I'm tired, I'm confused, I guess. I'm really sorry, Gemini. I guess I thought confessing would make it easier to live with? No, maybe not."
"I accept your apology, Pisces," Gemini answered him. "I really do, but you've gotta know it's never going to work between us."
Even Aries looked shocked at this. "Wait, What? I'm confused."
"Pisces and I would never work out. He's getting married, I have a bakery to run. Even if he wasn't forced into marriage, he's still a Prince. Prince's don't marry commoners, and I cannot, will not give up my bakery," Gemini stated firmly, as if she thought this through.
Pisces bit his lip and sighed. He nodded. "Yes. Yeah. Right, you're right."
"Are you okay? You seem a bit..." Gemini searches for the right word, "off. I think the stress is getting to you."
Aries nodded. "You're not wrong. He's frazzled. He's been acting on impulse all day. He hasn't brushed his hair, he ran into town, he kissed you, and now he's a confused puppy."
"You're not wrong," Gemini pursed her lips. "Why don't you sit down?"
Pisces nodded and sat at the nearest table. Gemini got out from behind the counter and sat with him, along with Aries.
"Libra is coming to the castle today, I assume we're talking about the wedding," Pisces admitted. "Also, can I bring some food samples to today? I'm going to try to convince them to let you cater."
Gemini raised a brow. "You've got to start giving me more than a few hours notice."
"That's smart," Pisces nodded, clearly still processing the information.
Gemini nodded. "Here, I'll gather some samples up for you and you can take them back. Maybe take a nap."
Pisces mindlessly nodded at her. Aries sighed, and started to pull him up. He mouthed a thanks to Gemini, in which she nodded. Aries went over to her and started to whisper.
"You rejected him," Aries noted quietly.
"I'm aware," Gemini nodded.
"May I ask why?" Aries asked, Gemini nodded. "Why?"
"Aries, this bakery is my legacy, my fathers legacy, and his fathers legacy. Besides, I don't think I'd be a good royal," Gemini told him. "I can't leave my life behind. It's everything I've ever wanted."
