As I drove through Aurora Falls, I saw that the town was kinda small. But yet, it had a comforting feeling to it. There was a bakery, deli, a movie theatre, boutiques, and the high school.
I pulled into the parking lot and looked up at my new school. It was at least 3 stories tall and had a very modern feel to it. I'd be starting school in 2 days. I sighed. I wish I can go back to New Mexico. I didn't know anyone here. I felt like an alien on a different planet. Everything was different now.
With a sigh, I started my car again, and headed to the bakery. I think it'd be nice to pick up a cake or something as a thank you to Dad.
As I placed my order for a chocolate cake, I heard whispers. I turned around, seeing a table of blonde girls all sipping lattes. They all had fake tans and expensive looking bags. I smirked. Im guessing these were the "popular" girls in Aurora Falls.
And they looked like complete snobs.
I wrinkled my nose at their slutty clothes they had on. They should just go outside naked if that were the case. They definitely were not the kinda people I want to associate with.
Just as I turned back around, I heard them talk about me again.
I picked up some words too. Like: Prude, ugly, short, and no butt.
That does it; I certainly wasn't taking bullshit from people I didn't know.
I walked over to their table and stood infront of them.
"Can we help you?" The girl, I guess who was their 'leader', narrowed their eyes at me and spoke like she had a nasal problem
"Actually, you can. I was wondering if you can keep your mouth shut about me. I don't know you, and I'm certaintly not taking shit from someone I don't know. Thank you." I gave them a bitchy smile and walked back towards my table
Her mouth hung open and I smirked, "Close your mouth sweetie. Flys will go in."
With a huff, she got up from her table along with her friends who looked like they were trying not to laugh, and left the bakery.
"That was freakin' awesome. I hadn't seen anyone stand up to Tara ina while." I heard a girl say behind me
She had super straight light blonde hair, gray eyes, and long lashes. She was really pretty. She had on a pink apron and was currently making a milkshake
"Thanks," I grinned wide at her
"Don't look now, but here comes her boyfriend." She frowned, looking away
I ignored her warning and looked outside to see Tara making out with Jake.
Oh hell.
"Is that Jake Kane?" I asked her
"Yeeeup." She popped the 'p'
"He's my neighbor." I spoke, looking as Tara draped herself all over Jake. It looked like her boobs were gonna fall out of her shirt. She obviously had no self respect.
The girl smiled, "So you're the girl who just moved in."
"uh yeah...how'd you know?" I asked cautiously
"Don't sound so nervous. Word spreads fast in a small town like Aurora Falls. And what you just said to Tara," she shook her head with a smile, "That hunny, I can assure you will spread fast."
I frowned, "Is that a good or bad thing?"
She thought a bit, "Depends how you look at it. Im Haley by the way." She held out her hand
"Dani." I gave her a smile
"Well, Dani, I think your cake is ready." She went into the back and returned with a baby pink piping bag and my chocolate cake. "What do you want me to write?"
"Er... Happy New Home?" I offered
She laughed, "Happy New Home it is."
I watched as she piped the letters onto the cake, writing the letters in perfect script. She placed the cake in a box and into a pink paper bag
"All set. See you around school Dani." she gave me a small smile, "And Welcome to Aurora Falls."
I waved and said thank you, heading into my car.
Well that was sure something. Who knew people were waiting for me to arrive here? As I headed home, I sang to the radio. My phone rang just as I pulled into the driveway.
"Hello?"
"How's it going in New York sweetie?" I heard my mom say
Here we go again.
"Like you care mom." I growled into the phone
"Hunny, I just wanted to check on you."
"I don't need to be checked up on. I have Dad, you know, the faithful loyal husband who you tossed to the side for my douche of an English teacher. So don't even bother Mom, I gotta go. Bye. " I hung up before she could even respond
I headed inside the house, seeing the door was unlocked. As I put the bag on the kitchen counter, I saw Dad stirring some spaghetti
"You should really lock the door Dad. I could've been a burgular." I joked
"Please, you wouldn't harm a fly." My dad chuckled, "What's in the bag?"
"The ocasional marijuana and cocaine to supply my never ending addiction." I sighed
"So dessert im guessing?"
"Prrreety much."
"Good, cause dinners ready."
As I took the plates out from the box and set them on our table, I thought about how much my Dad knew me. Well, he obviously knew me; he helped make me. But like, understood when I joked around and how I feel. I'm just lucky I'm not with mom. She barely took interest in me when Dad and her were still together. I don't see why she's taking interest in me now. Dad spooned the spaghetti onto our plates and we were soon chowing down on our meals. Before I knew it, I was brushing my teeth, about to get ready for bed.
I really do hope everything works out here.
