"I am the great illusion of myself ."

MATEUS WAS NEVER CLOSE with the sacred 28 children. Given who his father was he'd grown up alongside them since before he could walk. But he didn't care much for them. Abaraxas was his godfather so he spent the majority of his adolescence at the malfoy manor. Lucius was to clingy trailing behind like a dog until he pushed him into a ravine. Regulus to quiet, Sirius was to loud and Evan was to weird. He didn't like them and he made that clear. His father choosing to send him ilvemory for his schooling meant he hadn't seen any of them in years. He liked this, Them not knowing anything about him let alone what he looked like meant he could slip through the crowd at will and leave as he pleased. Mateus ordered a fourth cup of scotch from the bar drumming his fingers against the counter top impatient and bored. He turned his back to the bar leaning against the counter top analyzing the crowd of people In glittering gowns chugging champagne and speaking about things Mateus had no interest in. He had many ways he liked to spend his evenings And making mindless conversation with a room full of his fathers followers wasn't one of them. That was Saros forte. That's why he was the perfect first son, his fathers heir. He spotted Lucius in the crowd decked out in an emerald green suit with poor Narcisa black on his arm. They were surrounded by a group of other teenagers gaping at Narcisa as she beamed proudly showing off the malfoy family heirloom engagement ring on her finger.
"There going to be married off next spring." He turned to meet the voice of a girl with hair almost as white as Lucius. She was wearing a black corseted dress accentuating her figure. Her neck and arms layered in diamonds.
He eyed her before turning away and reaching for his glass."Took you long enough." He said to the stumbling bartender. He sheepishly gave him a smile and an apology before turning to the girl.
"Two whiskeys thank you." She spoke with a lingering French accent a rosier he guessed. She sent Mateus a glance her eyes lingering on his face a few seconds longer than he'd like. On any other occasion he'd flirt with her. Sweet talk her and maybe take her upstairs into one of the many bedrooms. But he wasn't in the mood tonight for any sort of company.
"I've never seen you here before."
She said sitting leaning against the bar next to him watching the crowd. He groaned internally he didn't wanna have to tell her fuck off especially since on a good day he'd be more engaging but he would if he had to.
"What's your name?"
He could feel the irritation bubbling up inside him. Running a hand through his hair he let out a sigh taking a sip of his drink before turning and walking away from her. He didn't even spare her a second glance. Making his way through the crowd and into the empty foyer. Well nearly empty foyer.
Regulus turned his head with a disappointed look on his face sitting mindlessly on the couch toying with his cuffs.
