I let her go
Because I knew she could do better
And now that she's gone
I wonder
If I should've
Just been better-ATTICUS

If you think about it nothing was relatively special about Lotus Evergreen,She was born into a very normal and middle classed family, She was fairly smart with looks that would deem her average looking by most, Muggle born,American. Nothing stood out about her at school no one really knew who she was until she was suspected of dating Mateus Riddle a popular, wealthy and in fact prejudice pure blood, and of course her suicide a week after Mateus transfer to Hogwarts that summer.
It's true what they say no one truly cares about you until you're dead no one consoles you while your hurting no ones there for you but suddenly when you're dead everyones your best friend.
Of course this was the case with Lotus Evergreen who is known by many of her classmates as the girl who killed herself over unrequited love with a boy she never had a real chance with. Mateus might've been the love of her life but she certainly wasn't the love of his.

Lotus wasn't stupid. She knew the chances of her and Mateus making it to the end of the school term let alone lasting we're very slim to none. They were different, so very different that it was a shock to many and more to herself when Mateus started showing even the slightest bit of interest in her.
However she was optimistic, and incredibly naive. She wanted to believe that maybe just maybe her and Mateus would make it.
He'd taken an extremely big risk dating her so she knew it couldn't have been a prank or some type of sick dare to get her to fall in love with him.
Mateus was a pure blood and incredibly rich and grew up with the ideology that muggles especially muggle borns were basically the scum of the wizarding world.
She wanted to believe she changed that ideology. That she fixed him and maybe they could be happy and grow old and have babies or something along those lines. But of course that would very much never ever be the case, because two weeks after their 6th month anniversary he dumped her. In the court yard in front of the the majority of their year.
He didn't even have the common decencyto talk to her about it. She found out by walking out onto the court yard and watching him grope and make out with Leslie Montague.
She stood there tears threatening to stream down her face but she refused to give him that satisfaction, and he didn't even care.
He stared at her for what felt like hours while making out with Leslie and then just looked away Like nothing. Like she and what they had were nothing.
It left her heartbroken that she never got an explanation. For the past week she'd
Been hoping, praying that he would say something to her. Even so much as glance at her or acknowledge her presence amongst their friends, but he never did.
Lotus shook her head, this isn't fair, he doesn't get to just use her like that and not at least explain to her what happened.
Lotus quickly sat up from her bed and began ruffling through her drawers for a less depressed looking outfit, cleaned her face
Fixed her hair and walked out the door.
