Chapter 5: A Prodigy?

Katniss’ POV: 

“Why are the boys coming over in the morning?” I ask still half asleep. I look over to my alarm clock that reads 5:01am. I still have another 15 minutes or so. 

“Well…” Johanna begins as she looks over to Annie for help.

“Glimmer can explain!” Annie exclaims. I look over to Glimmer curiously and she takes a big breath. I know it must be something shocking because she acts as if I might like it yet, I might not.

“What’s going on guys?” I ask a little nervous now. They are all acting extremely weird. 

“Well, I heard you and Peeta on the phone last night and I thought it would be cute if all of the guys and us could hang out before school this morning. Since our parents had to leave for work about half an hour ago I figured we can all see how cute you and Peeta look together. I mean you like him and we're pretty sure he likes you back so it's practically a guarantee.” I can’t object because I love the idea and I thank the girls for being so thoughtful. 

“Alright I do admit I love that idea.” I smile and blush and all of the girls start squealing and telling me how Peeta might make a move on me. “I’m gonna go get ready and I’ll see you girls downstairs when I’m done. 

I get up and go in my bathroom to wash my face and take a shower. I have my favorite playlist on repeat. It only consists of a few songs such as, “Popular Song” by Ariana Grande, which is the song I start singing in the shower and just as I realize what I’m doing I realize how I might have to sing in music class at the end of the day. After about ten minutes I get out and dry myself off. I put my makeup on and decide to have a simple eye with mascara, eyeliner, and barely any eyeshadow, paired with a bright lip. I don’t care for red lips much but today I decide to apply and pinkish red color. I add a bit of blush and decide to dry my hair. I finally chose to curl my hair since Peeta will see me first thing in the morning and I want to look my best today; since we’re also going for coffee after school. Once I’m finished with my facial appearance, I go over to my walk in closet and change into a short, dark wine red skirt and pair it with a gray crop top with a dream catcher on it, and clunky heels. As soon as I finish putting on my heels, I hear the door bell ring and all of the guys are there. I hear Peeta asking where I am. I grab my bag and my iPhone and head downstairs.

Peeta’s POV: 

So we never go over to the girls’ house before school, so this is a first for me. All of the boys are sitting on the couch with their girl… except for Johanna and Gale. They like each other and everybody knows it except for them but I have a feeling soon enough they will end up together. Soon enough I ask, “Hey Glim, where’s Katniss?” 

“I’m coming!” I hear her shout from the stair way. Once she gets downstairs I realize how gorgeous and flawless she is. She has bright lip that I could just kiss all day long but then reality hits me in the face and I realize that she isn't mine just yet. 

“Holy crap.” I think in awe. Although, I have this problem where some thoughts of mine will slip through my mouth and this is one of those times. Everyone is staring at me and as I look up I notice how I made Katniss’ rosy red cheeks blush to a deep pink. I clear my throat and just say, “I mean wow.” Everyone laughs and I even catch Katniss laughing while she walks towards the kitchen. 

“Has anyone had anything to eat yet?” She asks as she makes some toast on the counter. Everyone laughs while the girls tell Katniss what everyone had.
