First came Linda
Out of my small mind
From my small world
Out came my best friend who was from India
She was my genie
Anytime I called on her she was there, I was never talking to my self because I always had her
She was whoever I wanted her to be
And was there whenever I wanted her to be.
She dropped all her things the moment I needed her and with the magic running through her bones; right to me she flew.
Matthew, Jacques, Marco
All my first boyfriends, the guys that I had named my pillow at such a tender age. The guys I had my first kiss with and cuddled next to their warmth.
The girl that I first pretended had her face between my legs never had a name because I was breathing too hard to actually scream it out... I think she would've been an Alex. Manny, the character from tv that had made it into my imagination as my gay best friend. Who knew what to say and when to say it. The friend that posed all the questions so perfectly and allowed me to prepare and answer them with such amazing precision. Manny the one who brought me onto the red carpet where I was flattered by the questions they asked about my beauty and unto late night tv where I could tell funny stories and on daytime tv where I can explain all my ambitions. Manny was right there beside me, complementing everything I did and said. Adding in the lines in the story that I would forget. Both of us making the crowd laugh. Making me the funniest comedian and greatest most talented star to ever live.
This is the story of all my imaginary friends. Each one of them a complete gem.
Even as I grow older they will always be in my heart as they made me who I am.
