Cinderwing's Past Chapter 1

Graystorm ran over to Heartwing. "DarkClan's at the border!" he mewed breathlessly.

Heartwing looked at her deputy and mate. "Warn the Clan to prepare for another attack," she mewed.

Graystorm nodded and ran over to the warriors' den. "DarkClan's attacking again," he mewed loudly, waking the warriors up.

Cinderwing blinked and stood up, prodding Snowfeather with a claw. "Wake up!" she hissed. Snowfeather shook the scraps of moss out of her pelt.

"DarkClan?" she asked. Cinderwing nodded.

Leafbreeze woke Jadecloud. "DarkClan's attacking again!" he mwed. Jadecloud stood up.

"Not again," she mewed.

Leafbreeze nodded. "I'm afraid so," he said, then checked on his store of herbs.

Darkstar looked at his warriors. "Today, we will defeat DragonClan!" he yowled. DarkClan's warriors cherred. They raced towards the camp.

Sealily ran over to Heartwing. "They're almost here," she said.

Heartwing padded over to the enterance. She looked at Graystorm, then mewed, "Get all the queens, kits, and elders out of camp." He nodded.

Mistyheart grabbed Sunkit by her scruff, heading out of camp. Brightpelt followed with her two kits, Rainkit and Cloudkit.

Lionfang checked the elders' den. "Poppytail, get out of camp," he mewed. Poppytail stood up and followed the rest of the elders out of camp. Darkstar burst throught the barrier, followed by his Clan. "Kill them all!" he yowled, then leaped at Heartwing. She bit the back of his neck. Darkstar threw her off, then swiped at her eyes, trying to blind her.

Cinderwing ran over to the barrier , where DarkClan was breaking through. "Leave us alone!" she mewed loudly.

Darkstar stalked towards Heartwing, prepared to kill her nine times if he had to. Heartwing stood her ground, then knocked Darkstar's paws out from under him. She bit his throat and his body went still. DarkClan continued to fight.

A tabby tom jumped at Cinderwing, who easily batted him away. "Get out of our camp!" she hissed. The tom leaped at her again, trying to knock her down. She bit his tail and pushed him into the dirt.

Darkstar stood up and bit Heartwing's leg. She yowled in pain, then raked her claws down his side.

The tabby tom struggled out of Cinderwing's grip, then ran out of camp. DarkClan had trapped them near the nursery.

Heartwing looked at her Clan. "When you see an opening, take it," she said softly to her Clan. "We can't win this battle. The rest of the Clan nodded.

Snowfeather saw a gap between two of DarkClan's apprentices and ran for it, trying to get out of the camp. Oakpaw, Onepaw, Swiftpaw, and Runningpaw followed her.

Cinderwing spotted a gap she could use and took it, running through the DarkClan warroirs, followed by Jadecloud and the rest of the apprentices. The rest of DragonClan took any oppertunity to escape. Heartwing and Graystorm let the rest of the Clan escape before fleeing themselves.

Darkstar yowled in triumph, echoed by his Clan.

Once outside the camp, Birdsong and Lionfang found their kits. "Are you ok? Are you hurt?" Birdsong asked Cinderwing, worried.

Cinderwing mewed, "I'm fine. Just a few scratches. We need to find a place to rest."

Mistyheart set Sunkit down. "What if DarkClan follows us?" she asked, worried about her kit.

"We'll keep you and Sunkit safe," Cinderwing mewed soothingly.

Darkstar turned to his Clan. "We must hunt them all down and kill them," he mewed. DarkClan yowled it's agreement. He smiled evily.

The cats of DragonClan made their way, either alone or in groups, away from the camp. In the confusion, Cinderwing, Jadecloud, and Snowfeather were seperated from their family. Birdsong and Lionfang were seperated form their kits. Violetwing, Icefeather, Mistyheart, Dovecloud, Emeraldfire, and Flowerwing managed to stay together, as did Sealily, Flamewing, Silverwing, Lunasky, Sagebreeze, and Bleuwing. Medusasnake, Arachnaespider, and Erukafrog were together.

Cinderwing looked at her sisters. "We need to get away from DragonClan and DarkClan," she mewed.

Jadecloud nodded. "After I see to your scratches," she mewed firmly. She found some marigold and cobwebs. She chewed the marigold into a poultice, spread it on Cinderwing's scratches, then pur the cobwebs over them. Cinderwing flinched. "It's so the scratches don't get infected," Jadecloud explained.

"Ok," Cinderwing mewed, her scratches stinging.

Snowfeather looked at her sisters. "Which way should we go?" she asked.

Cinderwing sniffed the air. "This way," she decided. "I don't scent many other cats."

"Ok," Jadecloud mewed at the same time Snowfeather did.

"Should we hunt first?" Snowfeather asked.

"Probably," Cinderwing mewed. She padded towards a small tree, hoping to find a squirrel. Snowfeather went to the river. Jadecloud looked around. When she tasted the air, she could smell mice. She stalke dtowards the scent carefully. She pounced before the mice even knew she was there and killed six while the rest escaped.

"I've got mice!" Jadeclodu mewed. Cidnerwing padded over with a squirrel and a thrush. Snowfeather had a water vole. They dropped their prey near Jadecloud's mice.

"That should be plenty," Snowfeather mewed. Cinderwing nodded. Jadecloud took the thrush, Cidnerwing grabbed the vole, and Snowfeather had the squirrel.

Once she had eaten her vole, Cinderwing licked a paw and drew it over her are. She froze suddenly, hearing pawsteps. "Who's there?" she called, standing up. A dark gray tabby tom padded out of the bushes towards her.

"My name's Jaystorm," he mewed. "Who are you?"

"Cinderwing," she replied. "Those are my sisters Snowfeather and Jadecloud." They padded over to Cinderwing.

"Why are you here?" Jaystorm asked Cidnerwing.

"Our Clan was attacked," Cinderwing mewed simply. "We're tryign to find somewhere safe."

"Which Clan?" he asked.

"DragonClan. DarkClan attacked and tryed to kill us all," she meowed softly.

Jaystorm froze when she said DarkClan. "You're from DragonClan?"

"Was. DragonClan is no more; our warriors are scattered. Why?"

"Do you remember a Clan called PhoenixClan?"

"Yes. They were near us."

"DarkClan destroyed PhoenixClan too," Jaystorm mewed softly. "As far as I know, only me and my littermates survived."

Cinderwing shook her head saddly. "You have littermates?" she asked.

Jaystorm nodded. "Follow me." He padded back towards the bushes.

Jadecloud and Snowfeather looked at Cinderwing, who nodded. They grabbed the mice, then followed Jaystorm.
