Snowfeather and the others padded over to Cinderwing and Jaystorm. "Where did the kit go?" Snowfeather asked.

"Under the bushes," Jaystorm replied.

"Why?" she mewed, confused.

"DarkClan's on it's way here," Cinderwing said.

"Are you sure?" Stormheart asked.

Cinderwing nodded. "We know that they're in the area," she mewed. "They killed the kit, Eagle's, parents earlier."

"Why would they do that?" Jadecloud asked.

"They were members of PhoenixClan," Jaystorm mewed. He looked at his littermates. "Remember Naricloud and Darkfeather?" They nodded. "They were Eagle's parents."

Lilysong gasped. "Naricloud and Darkfeather are dead?" she asked.

Jaystorm nodded. "I'm afraid so," he mewed.

Suddenly, a group of cats leaped out of the bushes at them.

"DarkClan!" Firecloud spat.

Cinderwing stepped forward. "Who are you and what do you want?" she asked.

A tan she-cat stepped foreward. "I'm Rosemarycloud, deputy of DarkClan," she mewed. "These are Hawkeye, Miriaspirit, Fallenflower, and Falconpaw. Who are you?"

"I'm Cinderwing," Cinderwing replied. "These are my friends Jaystorm, Firecloud, Stormheart, Redpelt, Lilysong, Lionwing, Jadecloud, and Snowfeather. We don't want any trouble. We're just passing through."

The dark gray she-cat, Fallenflower, padded over to Rosemarycloud. "They're the cats from the other day!" she told the deputy.

Rosemarycloud looked at Fallenflower. "I'd noticed that, thanks," Rosemarycloud mewed dryly. She turned back to Cinderwing. "You asked what we're doing here. Our leader, Darkstar, sent us to hunt down the remnants of DragonClan and PhoenixClan. Clearly, you're all from either DragonClan or PhoenixClan."

Jaystorm stepped forward to stand next to Cinderwing. "How do you know that?" he asked.

Rosemarycloud looked at him. "It's fairly obvious. You have Clan names, yet you're not from DarkClan. And I remember you from the battle with DragonClan," she mewed, turning to Cinderwing. "We'll give you one warning. This territory is DarkClan's now; leave and never return."

Cinderwing nodded. "That was our plan," she said.

"Good," Rosemarycloud replied. She turned around. "We're leaving," she told Fallenflower, who was glaring at Cinderwing.

"Yes, Rosemarycloud," Fallenflower mewed. She looked at Cinderwing. "This isn't over," she hissed. She turned and ran after Rosemarycloud and the others.

Cinderwing turned to the others. "Let's go before they return," she mewed. She looked Eagle, who had crawled out from under the bushes. "Do you mind being carried?" she asked

Eagle shook her head. "I don't mind," she mewled.

Cinderwing looked at Lionwing. "Could you carry Eagle?" she asked.

Lionwing nodded. "Sure," she mewed. She padded forward and picked Eagle up by her scruff.

"Let's go," Cinderwing mewed.
