Hermione's POV

"What do you mean you don't love me anymore?!" I shrieked at the blond-haired boy in front of me

"I don't know...I just...ugh!" Draco stood up, annoyed and frustrated "It just feels wrong  all of a sudden, Hermione!"

"It feels wrong?" I whisper, barely able to look at him

"Yes, Hermione, wrong! You know the opposite of right! The way it feels when a Gryffindor and a Slytherin are together!" He growled out, looking away

I gasp and stare at the boy who supposedly loved me once before "This is because I'm a Gryffindor?"

Draco's POV

I looked at her when I heard the gasp escape her lips, when I saw the hurt and disbelief and anger chasing each other on her face I knew I made a mistake saying that

I sighed and reached for her hand "Hermione...

"Don't." She yanked her hand from mine "Would you want me if I was in Slytherin?"

I looked at her in shock "I'll always want you..." She wouldn't let me finish

"You want me, but you don't love me?" Hermione looked at me, expecting an answer

"I..." I didn't know what to say so I shut my mouth and looked at her, begging her with my eyes to understand and be patient like she always was

Her face hardened as I said nothing and she pressed her lips into thin line "Well, now I suppose we know one thing, don't we?" she turns and picks up her bag, heading for the door

I watch her go for a second "Now we know what?"

She turned and looked at me, and it was a look of observation like she was studying as if I was one of her assignments or puzzles "Now we know why a Gryffindor has never befriended a sneaky, lying, slithering, serpent Slytherin" with that she walked out and I was left alone with a door banging shut.
