Hermione's POV

I finally walked into Hogwarts where my brothers, Draco, Blaise, Caleb, and Lavender (we surprisingly got close after Ginny) were waiting for me

"Hermione!" Alex pulled me into a hug and I could hear how fast his heart was racing "We were worried"

"We thought you left, sis" Theo placed his hand on Alex's shoulder

I took a deep breath and looked at the group of me who were waiting for me "I am leaving"

I was met with silence. It was Lavender who filled the void

"You're....leaving?" I nodded in response "but what about Hogwarts? Your friends? Your family? Your education?"

"Your clan." Caleb finally met my eyes

"I can't stay here any longer. I'm not a witch and i refuse to be the wife of someone who hurt me" Caleb flinched visibly "I also can't be the girlfriend of someone who will always see me as Gryffindor know it all" Draco looked down in shame "It's about time that I accept who I am and move on with my life"

They stared at me in utter silence so i turned on my heel and walked away to find the two boys who were practically family. It was time to say goodbye to Harry and Ron.

I found them in the classroom that used to serve as Lupin's classroom.

"Hey Mione.." Ron coughed awkwardly

"Hello Ronald" i gave him a nod of acknowledgement and looked at the boy who lived

We all let the silence hang in the air until finally "I'm leaving Hogwarts. And the Clan." I was met with a look of shock and a look of understanding

"Probably for the best, Hermione' Harry said coldly

I nodded at him and looked at the boy with the fiery red hair that was once like a beacon when times were dark

"Well...i suppose that's that" ron got up, sensing the tension between me and Harry. He made for the door when he suddenly hugged me tightly "Thanks Hermione....we couldn't have done it without you." He smiled sadly at me as he pulled away "Goodbye know-it-all" he was gone, leaving me with Harry

"You know....I never understood why they all called us the Golden Trio. We were anything but golden" he said after an eternity of silence

"They needed hope when all seemed lost. We always gave them faith" I sat across from him

"Do you remember what you said to me in first year? When it was time for me to continue alone?" I nodded, not wanting to interrupt him "I was afraid after that day. I was afraid that I'd get you killed or hurt or worse...I was afraid of keeping you safe. Ron is just as reckless as me, we were both ready to throw ourselves head first and think later, but you were always there with the logical answer, always waiting to put us back in line when we were too much. Me and Ron never would have survived without you. We wouldn't be here, this was a safe haven once upon a time. When did it become a battlefield? When did I lose you Hermione?" He finally looked at me "Why did we have to grow up so fast?"

"That's what happens in war Harry. We all lost our innocence on that battlefield. Hogwarts was always stuck in the middle. I wish we got to be kids, Harry, I so wish that for us. I saw how your eyes lit up every time we returned. You never lost me, Harry. Things changed, as they do as they will continue to do. We were born in a messed up century."

"You're really leaving then?" He looked out at the empty classroom again

"Yes" i whisper, standing next to him

"We started with stars in our eyes and just when we thought we belonged it was taken from us. No one even told us where we went wrong or what to do next. After a moment of silence. I hope you find home, Hermione. Maybe it'll be better than this"

All I could was take his hand and lay my head on his shoulder

"You finally got your priorities sorted out" he gave a slight small

"And you almost got me killed" I pushed him lightly

He chuckled "Guess we're even now"

"Guess we are" i began to walk out

"Hey Hermione, thanks for keeping me alive" he called out

I closed the door and the tears fell
