Chapter Six

Hermione's POV

When  I returned to Hogwarts I was a full vampire and I was to be queen. Me and Caleb were married the night he took me 'home'. At first the clan fought this idea, but soon learned to embrace me as their future queen. I had my hand tucked into the curve of Caleb's elbow. My dress was long. It was an old fashioned dress and included a corset. Caleb insisted on me looking like this.

"My love, are you sure you want your coronation in this...dusty old castle?" Caleb quickly moved his hand to my waist

We walked past Draco, Blaise, Zack and Alex. I shared a look of desire with Draco before turning my attention to Caleb "Yes, this place will do perfectly" I giggled, curling myself into his side 

"As you wish my queen" we had reached the great hall and climbed to the stage, where the professors sat. McGonagall shared a sorrowful look with me before demanding the attention of the students, where Caleb took over "Hello witches and wizards of Hogwarts, I would like to introduce you to the new vampire queen!" the vampires began clapping and whistling as Caleb  took my hand and I joined my place beside him. I smiled at the students I used to call friends and classmates.

"Hermione!" My name rang out in all parts of the Great Hall, making Caleb smile. I assumed he thought that meant they were accepting this, but I could hear the surprise and grief in all of their tones. His hand found mine and he laced his fingers with mine, as his voice echoed in the hall

"When I turned Hermione I did not think of the peace that would occur afterwards. For years vampires and wizards have had an untrusting relationship, but my union with Hermione will seal a peace treaty never of us knew was on the table. For years when a body has turned up in the forest's clutches the vampires were blamed, when a vampire was killed, the wizards were  blamed, now I have turned and married one of your own, but now I wish for something in return!" gasps and murmurs were heard throughout the hall and Caleb chuckled. "What I desire is the blessing of a wizard, a blessing that commits my union to Hermione Granger and agrees to this peace treaty! And I want that blessing from Draco Malfoy of the house of snakes, the veela....sorry the ex veela!"

I looked at Draco and begged him not to come up here, not to do this. I turned to face Caleb "Sire, wouldn't you prefer the blessing of someone from my own house? Harry, perhaps?" I indicated the boy with raven and untamed hair

"No, no I want to hear the veela recede his claim on my queen, only then will I begin the coronation and in that time, the treaty we all so very much want." He released me and turned to face the Slytherins "Draco, come up here and release your claim on my wife" He grinned on the last word, as I turned to watch Draco's reaction.

Draco stood up and walked calmly to the stage. He kneeled when Caleb indicated him to with his eyes. I held my breath as Draco met Caleb's stare "I, Draco Lucius Malfoy of the Slytherin House, the heir to the Malfoy name..."

"I give you my blessing!" I snapped my head to look at the Slytherin table and saw my brother. He met my stare and mouthed something I didn't catch

Caleb looked directly at Alex "What...did...you...say?" 

Alex took a deep breath, met Caleb's stony stare and repeated himself "I, Alexander Nathaniel Granger of the Slytherin House, the heir to the Granger name and brother to Hermione, give my blessing to Caleb Raphael Inferno to wed and crown Hermione Jean Inferno"

"Alex..." I breathed his name and Caleb grinned, motioning for him to come forward

Alex stiffened and fixed his posture before he moved to meet the vampire standing next to me

"Alexander Granger, do you wish to be the one I accept my blessing from?" my vampire sire reached to push a piece of his hair away from his face, his fingers lingering on his cheek
