A couple of days had passed and you've notice how Hazel's been distancing herself.
Sometimes when you'd find her and Aimen together but when you'd join them, she'd find an excuse to leave.
You've tried texting her too but all you got were one answer responds or nothing at all.
It was clear that this had something to do with Jungkook.
"I'll try talking to her." Aimen assures you. "I'm sure she'll come around. If she doesn't, then she's crazy."
You let out a sigh. And here you thought you'd finish the semester with less drama.
"You look tired. Did something happen?"
"You'll never believe what happened last night."
"What?"
"Mrs Jeon came over to our place last night and ended up having an argument with my mom."
"Do you know why?"
"She didn't like the idea of my family moving. That's no reason to start argument though." You run your fingers through your hair, staring at nothing in particular. "In my eighteen years of existence, that's the first I've ever seen them argue."
"Wow. Now where have I seen that behavior before?" Aimen comments, earning a knowing glance from you.
"I think I understand where Mrs Jeon's coming from. I mean your mom's been with her since forever and maybe she expected it'd stay that way. It's hard to be away from your best friend." She tells you. "It's the same reason why we agreed to go to the same university after this."
You can only nod your head and then check the time on your phone.
Class ended an hour ago and you've been in the convenience store with Aimen for the last thirty minutes.
"Shoot. I've got sixteen missed calls from my mom." Aimen quickly grabs her bag, giving you a hug. "I got to go. Call me when you get home. If I don't answer, it means I'm grounded. I'll see you tomorrow."
And just like that, she bolts out the store.
The second you got home, you were on babysitting duty. Apparently Mrs Jeon received an urgent call from work and since Jungkook's still at basketball practice, babysitter isn't answering her calls, you're the only person she can call on such short notice.
And the money that was supposed to go to the babysitter, will go to you. Surprisingly.
After watching Mrs Jeon drive off, you close the door and make your way to the living room. You set Jaeden on the carpeted floor, surrounding him with toys.
He starts crying, reaching his baby hands out to you.
"Look Jaeden. It's a pink muscley rabbit." You say with a slightly high pitched tone, attempting to distract the baby with an odd plushie with abs. "It's gonna eat your tummy."
You vibrate it against his stomach while making quick chu chu chu noises, successfully squeezing a laugh out of him. He grabs on to the doll and presses it against his face.
The way his eyes momentarily close tells you he's sleepy but trying to stay awake. Grabbing the bottle Mrs Jeon prepared before she left, you swoop the baby from the floor to rest him on the couch with you beside him.
You give him his bottle, watching his fingers eagerly holding it. It doesn't take that long before he falls asleep. After gently laying him on his crib, you collapse on the couch and release a puff of air.
Now what?
You don't have any pending homeworks. You could start studying for that quiz in a few days but you're too lazy to do that.
