You kept recalling what had happened.
How the truck was just inches away from hitting the car. The loudness of its horn. The way it struggled to swivel out of the way.
When you told Aimen about it, the girl came over to your place regardless of the weather and stayed the night.
Telling mom and dad about it isn't an option. You don't want them to get all fussy.
Thanks to Aimen though, you were able to calm down a little.
The following day, mom dropped both of you off at school. She never left your side and you could see she was putting effort at distracting you.
And it worked.
After what felt like forever, it was time to go home.
Compared to yesterday, it's all clear skies and no dullness.
You roll your arm back and snicker at the sound of your bones clicking.
"Five hours' just for practice isn't normal. I could've been home sleeping." Aimen complains.
"If you hated it that much, then don't come to rehearsal tomorrow." You say with a suggestive smirk, earning a glare from her.
"Don't tempt me. My mom would kill me if she knows I missed one rehearsal."
Time does fly by. And to think. In just a few days, you'll all be graduating.
You suddenly receive a text message and the content you read causes your whole body to freeze.
Aimen notices the odd shift of demeanor. "Hey, you okay?"
You blink and turn to her with an expression like you don't know what to do.
"Jungkook's in the hospital."
Everything's a blur after that. Next thing you know, you're running through the hallway of a hospital, stopping as you find Jungkook's parents talking to the doctor.
Aimen's right behind you and she grabs on to your arm to make sure you don't run off by yourself.
She checks your arm and finds a streak of blood, confirming what she had saw earlier to be true. You really did scratch yourself while coming up here. "Don't run off like that again."
Is all she can say as she pulls out a bandaid from her bag. One isn't enough to cover the wound so she pulls out two more.
Her eyes finds your eyes as they're fixated towards the direction of the Jeons and she sighs.
Even though you aren't on good terms with Jungkook, she knows that you never stopped caring for him.
"Due to the nature of the accident, he's suffered significant blood loss and will require a blood transfusion during the operation to replace it. We're currently looking for individuals with the same blood type as your child to provide the transfusion. Could you tell me if you know anyone within your circle who shares the same blood type?"
"Let's use mine." Mr Jeon says only to earn an apologetic look from the doctor.
"Unfortunately, receiving blood from a direct relative carries certain risks. It's generally safer to source the transfusion from an unrelated donor to minimize the chance of complications."
They need blood from someone who isn't related to Jungkook.
You leave Aimen's side and walk up to them. "He needs Type A right? I'm a match. You can use mine." It comes out as an urgent suggestion.
Mrs Jeon lets go of her husband and presses a hand against your cheek, looking you seriously through tear stained eyes. "Are you sure about that, Y/n? You don't have to if you don't want to. We still have time to search for-"
"It's fine." You weren't told how severe the accident was but knowing Jungkook's in the intensive care unit says enough.
He needs to get that operation as soon as possible.
Mrs Jeon embraces you tightly and says with a trembling voice. "Thank you, my dear."
After that, a nurse leads you to a room for testing and Aimen keeps you company. After confirming your blood type and some other tests, they proceed to draw blood from you.
No words are enough to describe the atmosphere as they brought Jungkook into the operating room.
Seeing him connected to all those wires, machines and lying there unconscious-made you want to throw up.
You're not used to seeing him this way.
Even though he can be the most intolerable person to exist, he doesn't deserve this.
No one deserves this.
Mrs Jeon mentioned that while on his way back from school practice, a huge truck hit him. The driver was drunk and happened to die on the spot.
The doctors said it was a miracle that Jungkook was still breathing when they rushed him to the hospital despite being in that dreaded state.
The operation would take hours and that left everyone nervous.
Jisung was quiet as he stood outside the door of the operation room. If you look closely, you could see him trembling uncontrollably.
Mom and dad returned to the hospital with food and drinks for the Jeon's. They assured them that everything was gonna be alright.
While consoling them, Mrs Jeon bursted into tears as she hugged your mother tightly.
After some time, you and your parents leave the hospital.
"Are you okay, sweetheart?" Mom asks, watching you from the front mirror of the car.
You nod your head and dad says. "The doctor said you should rest after what you did."
"He's gonna be okay...right?"
Mom smiles softly. "Of course, dear."
The drive home was silent. Mom was constantly on her phone. Dad wasn't uttering a word.
Exhaustion from the events of today hit you so hard that the second you touched your bed, you collapsed.
The following day, you heard that the operation was successful. Jungkook was out of danger but still hasn't woken up.
Although that was good news, mom and dad mentioned something else that made your heart heavy.
The Jeons were advised to transfer him to a different hospital with better facilities. That way he'd be carefully monitored and receive proper treatment.
So without wasting time, they did just that.
Before the sun rose, the family started packing, got on a plane and left for the states.
