Almost five years has passed since they left.
You're on your last year of premed and each day makes you question your life's decision.
It's currently seven in the evening. The library's packed with students.
After being here for thirty minutes, Aimen finally shows up. The purse of her lips and the usual troubles expression makes you raise an eyebrow.
Aside from that, you're amazed as to how she constantly manages to sneak in her iced coffee through security.
There's literally a sign that says no drinks or food allowed in the library.
She's clad in a purple hoodie with her hair messily tied up. Round glasses sit on the bridge of her nose and instead of her usual tote bag, a backpack.
"They got my order wrong so I had to wait again." Grumbles the girl as she takes a sit. Then she's giving you that serious look. "Let's be roomies."
"I thought your mother didn't like the idea of you dorming."
"Yeah, but it'll be fine if I say it's you." She adds on. "I can't keep driving back and forth you know. Do you know what time I have to wake up just to get here on time? Six. And when I get home I'm too tired to do anything and I can't keep drinking coffee. At this rate, I'll die of palpitation before I even graduate."
"Mhh. Okay. Now tell your mom that."
"So you're good with being roomies?"
You shrug your shoulders. "Yeah, why not."
She takes her phone, and pushes the chair back. "I'll call her now."
Oh.
She's serious this time.
You let out a sigh and then stare at the notes in front of you.
If you're being completely honest, this whole internship's quite draining.
Aside from being busy testing patients, everyday your patience gets tested.
You wonder if you made the right choice choosing this path.
And that if you're going to make it.
Time check: eight pm. Your shift starts at eleven to six am in the morning.
The hospital you're assigned to is just a walking distance from where you're staying. Which is convenient.
Aimen comes back and says with a grin. "Guess who got herself a roomie. It's you."
You chuckle. "What about your stuffs?"
"In my bag." She says while sipping on her drink. You nod your head. That explains everything. "My mom's bringing the rest of my stuff tomorrow though. You okay with that?"
"Yeah. It's fine."

The floor you're at is quiet as you do your rounds, collecting samples from patients before returning to the laboratory to run tests on them.
Aimen's on the other side of the room, passed out on the table. Just a while ago, she had a one on one combat with a child who refused to sit still for a needle.
Thank god that wasn't you.
You check the time. Two more hours to go before your shift ends.
The hospital isn't busy tonight and you've done all the tests you could do for the hour.
As a yawn flees you, you decide to get some coffee from the canteen.
You enter the elevator and lean back against the railings, staring at the decreasing number, until finally, you reach your floor.
As the door opens, a young boy no older than four years old trips on his feet and falls to the ground.
And like a screenshot, your body flinches.
You quickly help him up, taking note of his loose shoe lace.
"Are you okay there, buddy?" You say, wiping away invisible dusts off his clothes. You're about his eye level as to not scare him.
He's not crying. That's good.
"Where's your mommy and daddy?" All he does is look around before turning to you.
That could mean his parents aren't that far behind.
Those round eyes watch you closely as you secure his laces. You then notice the bunny plushie on the ground and hand it to him before standing, scanning through the area.
You take the child by his hand and lead him to the counter where Aera can be found assisting someone. When they're done, you knock on the surface for her attention.
She shows you an eye smile but then widens them when her gaze lands to the child next to you.
"Y/n." She says in a rather shocked manner. "All this time you had a child and you never told me? I thought we were friends."
You let out an amused chuckle. "He's not mine. I found him on my way down here. Now be a dear and announce it for me."
"Right, right." She prepares the mic. "What's the boy's name?"
Oh right. You forgot to ask. Crouching down to level the boy's eyes, you smile at him and ask. "Hi there buddy. Can you tell noona what's your name so that we can call your mommy and daddy?"
He presses his bunny against his mouth, looking at you through his bangs.
Maybe he's shy.
"Jae..."
His cute voice makes you want to pinch his cheeks.
"Jae?"
"Jaeden."
You smile softly, tapping his nose before giving the name to Aera. After she makes her announcement, you bring the child next to Aera and make him sit on the swivel chair.
"Aww look at this cute thing. You look like a bunny." She cooes, showing him a lollipop to which he takes shyly.
"Right?" You chuckle. "Mind if I leave him here? I still have a few rounds to do."
"Yeah not at all. I'll text you when his parents pick him up."
You turn to the child, waving. "Bye bye Jaeden."
