Crystals prov:
We all moved, all parted our ways, Kate went and lived in Scotland, Jacob was going on to becoming a doctor and the others, who knows, most of us seemed to have lost contact. One year later and I end up moving to England and living life on my own. I started university now and I think it's safe to say that this is all a fresh start, a new beginning, a new life.
So let's start on where I'm at, I've started a new course in university and I've been there a while now, I've actually found myself a new group, a group of 4. 2 girls and 3 boys. There was me, Lila, Ethan, jack and Colby. It took a lot for me to trust them but now I can tell them anything and everything without having to worry.
"Hey have you handed in your assignment yet?" Lila raising a sheet clear in the air for everyone to see.
"No I've not done it, I've not had time especially with homework pilling in each day, I've just a been not able to get anything finished." A worried look appeared on her face as she hands me her sheet.
"When did we learn about this?" I ask scanning the questions over in my head unable to recognise the writing.
"Uh about a week ago, it was due in today, how do you not remember?" She took her assignment and placed it in her bag as I shrugged in response.
Walking down the corridors I notice a boy that I've liked for a while now he's called Hunter. We've talked every now and then but it's rare and when we do it's often about class related stuff. Lila and the boys are the only ones that know, it's hard to trust people anymore.
Lila rushes down the corridor with me trailing behind, on our way to greet Colby and jack.
"Hey, where's Ethan?" I ask as I noticed that he was no where in sight. Looking around, Hunter is talking to one of his friends, probably about football.
My head snaps back to Colby as he clicks his fingers to grab my attention. He raises an eyebrow in questioning but i shrug him off, not bothering to acknowledge his movement.
"Ethan is at football tryouts, I thought you knew." Jack answered looking directly at me.
"Oh yeah, I heard about that but Ethan?! Really, is that the best idea?" I try to tell them how much of a bad idea it was that he was trying out for the team, he can't play, like at all! He'll probably break his ankle just from giving the ball a tap.
"Well what can we do about it?" Lila asked shrugging her shoulders.
"Well we could try and stop him before he embarrasses himself?" Colby questions looking at us for our answers. Lila puts her head down as I walk forward indicating for the others to follow. They all look at each other confused, but it's not long before the catch on.
I looked out towards the stadium and see Ethan talking to one of the other players that already made the team. One of the boys, Nicholas, had an injury hence why there is a spot available.
"Excuse me." Hunter announces as we all apologise and step out of the way. Looking up I make eye contact as he smiles and walks on to the field.
My eyes wander all over his body, trying my best I turn to face my attention to the others. They give me that 'look' as my cheeks burn up. All the sudden the floor looked more interesting than anything else, my eyes fixed on the patterned ground below us.
They all laugh as I laugh along with them, okay I know I'm a little addicted to him but come on he's amazing, who couldn't stare at those gods that were happily placed on our earth?!?
We all turn our gaze back to Ethan, except this time he's talking to Hunter. Oh man. I point to the left suggesting to go through the door that leads to back which also takes us to the back of the bleachers.
They all nod and walk towards the bleachers, Ethan was passing the ball back and forth to hunter but missed him terribly most of the time.
"So thats everyone else's competition?" Lila asks pointing at Hunter. She looked him up and down turned back to us.
"Yeah pretty much." Colby answers whilst making his way on to the pitch.
"What are you doing?" I ask trying to catch up but making sure that I won't be seen.
"Going to talk to him, if he really wants to do this then he's gonna need to some guidance and no offence to him but he definitely can't get it off Hunter, he's too experienced and Ethan probably doesn't have a clue what he's trying to say."
"Are you sure that's a good idea? I mean yeah he does need guidance and practice, but do you think he wants help?" Jack questions, keeping his eye on Ethan who is now talking to Hunter's best friend, Noah.
Noah is just as experienced as Hunter and was the captain of the team last year but ever since Hunter began to score more goals he became captain. Noah is the back up plan, basically if Hunter decides to step down and rethink his role or even as simple as being sick, Noah is there ready to take over.
Colby walks back to where we are all standing clearly rethinking his decision. I look at Colby and then glance back at Ethan, yes I do agree Colby could help him but jacks right, he probably doesn't want help considering what happened last time or so the story I have been told.
"He's scratching the back of his neck, he's getting nervous, uh what do we do?" Lila asks with a worried expression hidden in her eyes. Jack manages to keep her under control as we all watch the tryouts begin.
"Here is the list of volunteers to join our football team:
Caleb Jones
Eli Kielley
Conner phorps
Ethan Hills
Asher fletcher
Brayden Quinn, the tryouts go in this order, if any of you want to leave then I suggest that now would be a great time, am I right?"His rhetorical question hung in the air more silence than night, I guess we were all hoping Ethan would turn back and reconsider his thoughts on that maybe this isn't such a good idea but he didn't, no one moved and everyone's eyes stayed fixated on the coach.
He placed the ball in the field and raised his hand in the air, the aim is to show off all your tricks for 2 minutes and take shots to the goal against an average player. For some it's hard yet others pass without a problem, Ethan is probably the first one. He's never prepared for anything, so how he's going to pass this? I have no clue.
Caleb and Eli went up together and started performing their tricks, they are good, as good as each other but I don't think they're good enough yet to make it on the team and if Nicholas was the the bar of skill you had to try and achieve then let's just say those standards are a bit too high for these 'volunteers'
I let my eyes roam around the field and it isn't long until I catch someone's eye. Hunter. What? I am looking right?
I turn my head to see if anyone was behind me that he could possibly be staring at but there wasn't. I look back to face him and yet this time he watching the ball move swiftly across the grass. My cheeks heat up just from him staring intensely at the tryouts. I advert my gaze elsewhere before he could notice.
It's now Ethan's turn to go up and let's just say that you ain't the only one that's scared.
