7:34 a.m., the Marketplace
This morning Kusuri was out at the market. "Hiya! Give me some apples, please!" The shop owner laughed, "Where's your money, Little Hikari?" Kusuri gave him the money in exchange for his favorite food, apples.
Cotton road, to the Institution
Meanwhile, Mira was running late for school. Literally, running. "Ah! Koko! Kimoto!" Mira ran towards them. Suddenly a colorful blast shot towards her. "Mira! Animal Transformation Magic: Cat!" Kimoto became a cat and jumped off of Mira's hat, "AHH! KITTY!" Koko cheered. "Cat Claw Dash!" Kimoto slashed through the attack. "Oh my gosh, Kimoto, thank you so much!" Mira got on her knees and bowed to the cat. "You're welcome. But who could've attacked you?" "No idea-" "KIMOTO!! YOU SHOULD TURN INTO A KITTY MORE OFTEN, YOU'RE SO CUTE!!" Koko cuddled with Kimoto, "Please, stop..."
"If she wasn't with her friends she would've been hit..." Lark thought to himself from a nearby bush, "she's under my expectations." and with that he walked off towards school.
Ken, Itari and Finn walked to school together talking about their magic. "Dark Matter itself is a mysterious thing. I could end up losing myself completely." Itari said dismally, to which the overzealous Finn replied with, "That's sick! Your parents don't care?" "The Dakū family has long since studied the dark arts. It would be surprising if I didn't. Ken, how's magic going?" Ken laughed a little and replied with, "It-It's going fine..." he thought back to yesterday when he filled the classroom with sparks of flames, "I'm starting to get the hang of it." "Good-" "Aren't you going to ask about my magic-" "No, Finn, no one was." Itari hissed, coldly. Finn chuckled and put his arm around his friends necks, walking to school.
As Kusuri walked back home he ran across Mira, Koko and Kimoto. "Oh shoot!-" before he could get away he was grabbed by Mira who sneered, "Hi, Kusuri. How are you this lovely morning?" Kusuri slowly turned his head and met Mira's smiling, yet intimidating, face. "I'm great! How about you?" "Did you ever find your Glowing Moss?" "O-Oh! Yep...made that potion too..." he hicupped. "Who's your friend, Mira?" Kimoto meowed, "A TALKING CAT!?" Kusuri gushed, his eyes twinkling. "We're not done here! Since you made me go on that egg hunt for nothing, give me what's in that bag!" "NOT MY APPLES!" Kusuri yelled. As the two argued on Koko stood there staring at Kusuri thinking, "HE'S SO ADORABLE!!" "You okay Koko?"
"I'm sorry okay!? I just didn't want you to leave." Kusuri apologized. "Oh! You could've just said that, dummy!" The two hugged. "We're on our way to school so see you later!" Mira and the two others started to walk away. "I'm coming too!" Kusuri followed.
Meanwhile,
"Damn it!" Frankie thought in her head as she ran through the city looking for Ace and Spade, "I shouldn't have been so harsh! Four days!? Their only home is the Alley and I kicked them out!" Deep down Frankie had a heart. She cared about her fellow Rabbits. She ran in the direction of the school....
Then all at once, they ran into each other.
Tsugimoto, Kurokawa, Hikari, Vando and Crimson.
The five of them being together made their heart beats synchronize.
"Be prepared."
"Protect each other"
"Protect the city""W-What?" Ken held his head. "What's wrong?" Kimoto asked Mira and Kusuri, "I- don't know.." "Who was that?" Frankie shook it off and ran through them. Lark pretended like nothing happened and kept walking. "I-I have to go home now. Bye Mira!" Kusuri ran off, confused by the situation. "Bye Kusuri.." Koko squeaked while cuddling Kimoto. "Oh, bye. Kimoto, why are you still a cat?" "After 15 minutes I revert back to my original form wether I want to or not-" as she finished her sentence she transformed back, still in Koko's arms "....let go..." Koko giggled as the three walked into school.
The Lily Institution, Gym
Ken met with his class in the Gym for Magic Training. He walked out the locker room wearing a gray, short-sleeved shirt and black track pants. "Alright, ladies. Today you're gonna start out by testing your range. Release an attack that will go across the gym," the gym teacher pointed to the targets across the gym, "those targets have Magic Containers that will hold the amount of damage your attack deals. Go ahead."
"Ken, you seem to be frightened." Ken looked up and laughed at Itari, "No, No! I'm fine, man." "We'll see." "Your turn, Dakū!" Itari summoned a staff made of dark matter called the Shadow Spear. He pointed it at the target and casted, "Piercing Darkness." A lightning bolt of dark matter struck in an instant, nearly breaking the container. "Damn." Ken whispered. "90/100! Good job! The great, Tsugimoto. You're up." Ken stared at the target and breathed out. He put his hand in front of him and casted, "Soaring Blaze!" A bird of bright flames shot at the target and it shattered completely. He got claps from his classmates and some sneers of jealousy. "100/100! You're gonna be a great sage!" Ken laughed a little, Itari watched him from under his hair.
In the locker room after all the other guys were gone Ken held his chest and started sweating profoundly, trying to stay together. "Ken! What's the matter?" Itari held him up,"Nothing I'm fi-" "Ow!" Itari dropped him, holding his arm and side, "Ken. You're on fire. You need to go to the nurse. You shouldn't let anyone touch you." Ken stared at Itari, before nodding and making his way for the door.
As Ken wobbled into the elevator to the 1st floor his mother's words echoed in his head, "Fire magic is a very dangerous magic y'know. There's cases where the mage themselves burns to death or can't control their power..." He noticed the floor under him was getting hotter, as well as the air. "I'm burning the elevator!?" he thought, pushing through the door and running to out the towering institution.
Ken ran through the streets, setting the ground on fire, melting people. A tear fell down his cheek before he crashed into someone. A man, with red hair. "Dad!?" "You mean Neil Tsugimoto? As if! I wish I was though!" Ken came too and looked around. Nothing was on fire, everything was fine. "I-I'm sorry!" Ken pushed past him. " How rude." said another man with droopy eyes and black hair. "It's okay, Scorpio. We'll see him again. Let's go, Team Mars!" Spade, Ace and the two men walked off.
Later at night
"Mooooommm, where's dad!?" Kusuri questioned, running out of his room. His mother sat on the couch with her hands covering her mouth, her eyes wide. "Mommy?" she embraced Kusuri as a tear ran down her cheek without saying a word. Kusuri looked at the television and saw the headline,
"The Five Sages Missing!"
"W-What!?" Mira dropped her glass, shaking. "Madoka..." her father whispered.
Lark walked through the temple, already knowing the news. He eyed the sword from the corner of his eyes but ultimately stormed out.
"Frankie! Did you hear the news!? The Sages are gone!" The Black Rabbits cheered. Frankie was shocked and just stood there.
Ken's mother was in a state of panic, "What will the city do without our defenders? Will it overrun again? How could this happen!?" Ken couldn't sleep. He thought about how life would be if they never entered the walls. He regretted leaving.
