Chapter Four- Pool~Pool Paradise

"Ha! I win!" You exclaim, almost falling over as you stumble onto your front step. Zane arrives a second later, collapsing on the stairs.

"Remind me to never do that again," he gasps, his words separated by his desperate gulps for air. "I'll probably never be able to breathe for the rest of my life."

"Stop being dramatic," you say, nudging him with your foot. "Now go get your swimsuit on, the girls and I will be over in a few minutes."

"Fine." Zane stands up, shaking his head. "I'll see you soon, okay?"

"Sure thing!" You wave goodbye as Zane departs, then go into your house to find your swimsuit. It had dried in the few short hours since you took it off, and you're thankful that you don't have to struggle to put it on while it's wet. When you tug it on, you're reminded that this, plus the dress, are the only clothes you have, so you'll have to go shopping soon.

Even though Katelyn and Kawaii~Chan got there before you, they take way longer to get ready, so you sit down and the couch in the living room and browse your phone while waiting.

"Kawaii~Chan, this is way too revealing!"

"Well, it's either this or your dress!"

"I'd rather swim in the dress!"

"Too bad! It's too pretty to get wet."

"Kawaii~Chan, I swear to Irene, I'm not wearing this!"

"Oh yes you are, Katelyn~Sama!"

You snicker at the girls arguing, and then a minute later you hear them coming down the stairs. You get up from the couch and go to meet them. Kawaii~Chan is wearing her pink bathing suit, and Katelyn has on a two-piece purple one, which she seems very uncomfortable in. Her arms are crossed over her exposed stomach, and she's looking down at the floor instead of at you or Kawaii~Chan.

"Come on, Katelyn~Sama! You look fine!" Insists Kawaii~Chan.

"Yeah. Katelyn, you look beautiful," you agree. "It's only the boys, after all. You've known them for years, right? They won't mind!"

"I'll mind!" Katelyn snaps. "I just... don't like it."

"It'll be dark out soon, they won't even see you." You point to the sky out the window, which is starting to get darker. "Now, let's go. I'll even stand in front of you the whole time if you want"

You hold out a hand for Katelyn to take, and she grabs ahold of it nervously.

"T-Thanks, (Y/N). And you too, Kawaii~Chan."

"Happy to help!" Kawaii~Chan steps towards the door. "Come on, the boys will be waiting!"

You lead Katelyn outside, still holding her hand, and walk towards the house next door. You reach the door, and before you can knock, Vylad throws it open with a large grin.

"Hiya girls! Garroth and Zane are upstairs already, so follow me!" Vylad leaves the door open and goes upstairs, leaving you and the others to awkwardly follow. Katelyn pulls her hand away from yours to cover her exposed skin again.

When you get on the roof, you see Garroth trying to play a game of volleyball with Zane, but he's failing miserably. Zane is sitting in the shallow end, watching as Garroth repeatedly smacks him in the head with a beach ball. His arms are crossed, and every time the ball hits him, his expression gets even grumpier. You notice that he has swim trunks on, and he's not wearing a shirt, but for some reason, he's still got his mask wrapped around his neck and lower face.

"Garroth, stop! I'm not playing with you!" Zane yells when Garroth tosses him the ball again.

"Please, baby brother?" Garroth begs. "Just one game?"
