Chapter Ten- Wingman~Wingman Paradise

You pull Zane towards the water park's food court. It consists of a little café and a few small fast-food places. There are tables spread out between the shops, all covered in water and sand from the slides and artificial beaches.

You can see Katelyn and Travis sitting at one of the tables nearby. Katelyn is simply eating a salad, but Travis is devouring some tacos. Katelyn spots you and waves you over.

"Hiya, guys. How's the park been so far?" She asks.

"Brutal," says Zane, sitting next to Travis. "(Y/N) dragged me on way too many slides."

"You know you enjoyed them, you liar." You lightly shove Zane's shoulder. He makes a face at you before turning back to Katelyn.

"What slides have you been on?" He questions.

"We've only been on two," Katelyn replies. "The dolphin one and a super steep tube one. We had to stop because apparently, Travis was starving."

"I was!" Argues Travis through a mouthful of taco. He swallows before continuing. "I didn't have time to eat this morning."

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." Katelyn waves her hand dismissively. "We're going to meet up with everyone else in a few minutes and go down that giant slide that goes straight into the ocean!"

Zane's face turns white.

"I-Is Aphmau going down it?"

"I think so. Why wouldn't she?"

"N-No reason!" Zane shakes his head. "You mind if we tag along?"

"Ooh! Yeah! Big slide!" You exclaim.

"Well, we said we'd meet there at 10:30, and it's 10:25 now. We should go." Katelyn looks towards Travis. "Are you done?"

Travis gulps down the last bite of his taco.

"Yup. Let's go!"

"So, Travis, why were you eating tacos at 10:30 in the morning?" You awkwardly attempt to make some casual conversation with Travis. Katelyn and Zane are talking ahead of you, and you don't just want to walk in silence with Travis, especially since this is the first time that you've been somewhat-alone together since your less-than-optimal first meeting.

"What else would I be eating?"

"Fair enough." You scramble for a moment, trying to find something else to talk about before it returns to an awkward silence. "So, uh, how are you recovering after falling off that giant building?"

"Oh, I'm doing just fine! Somehow, I magically didn't get hurt," Travis says. "And Katelyn has been really nice to me lately. I think she feels bad for pushing me off."

You glance over at Katelyn, who is laughing at something Zane said. Looking back at Travis, you see he has a lovesick smile on his face.

"You have a thing for her, don't you?" You ask, grinning at Travis's suddenly panicked expression. "Don't worry, I won't tease you or anything."

"Well, I, uh..." Travis hesitates. "Yeah, I do. She's just... she's perfect, you know?"

"Yeah, I know, she's incredible," you say with a small smile. Then, feeling an odd sense of trust around Travis, you add, "Do you mind if I ask your advice on something?"

"Go ahead, you can tell me anything." You look gratefully at Travis before beginning to speak.

"So, I think Zane may like me? As more than a friend? And I really like him too, and I'm not sure if I'm just telling myself he likes me because I want it to be true, but I don't know what to do about it."
