"why do you call me vee?" eddie heard the grumble of his symbiotic other. though he was trying to sleep, venom didn't seem to care.

slightly opening his eyes to his barren room, he now had the privilege of answering the aliens inquiries. "mhmmm..." he groaned, "i don't know. it's quicker than venom."

"do you not like 'venom'?" eddie could hear slight vulnerability in their normally powerful voice. the variation made him stir slightly, now facing the ceiling. however, something about his position only incurred pain within him. venom seemed to ignore it

"of course i like venom, it's- scary?? i guess, yeah, it's scary." he could detect a slight purr coming from vee's subconscious that vibrated amongst his entire body. although he didn't quite understand why, venom made a habit of forcing their host awake and prodding at the intricacies of human behaviors. regardless of their frequent expression of their annoyance in the species, they still showed interest in how others worked. when nightfall came, venom seemed to grow more and more curious.

"if it's scary then why do you call me vee?" venom questioned.

eddie smoothed down the stubble peppered on his chin. when he found himself in this position—which was quite often— he never knew what to say. not only was he ridiculously sleep-deprived, starving, and experiencing some form of chronic back pain, but the seemingly random and meaningless things his alien counterpart had to say perplexed him in his most sober, sane state. "it's a nickname," he groggily stated. "sometimes people give friends nicknames, like anne used to call me an idiot, although i don't think that was a nickname-"

"she's right."

eddie uncomfortably squirmed around his bed at this, now completely unable to find a suitable sleeping position. "geez, thanks bud"

he continued with his shuffling. "out of all the problems i could be having, it's back pain and not the eight-foot alien up my ass" eddie thought. this inadvertently earned a weak laugh from venom. eddie replied with a roll of his eyes behind semi-shut lids.

"should we give you a nickname?" venom whispered, though their deep, raspy voice echoed amongst the room. even eddie was take aback by the eagerness in their tone, however, he didn't want to entertain this thought. he knew that every time venom would have a "harmless" question it would sprout into some monumental discussion about stupid human habits and eventually end in venom claiming eating someone would solve the problem. eddie had to admit, it was quite entertaining to see an intelligent, complex alien life form get frazzled at the idea of everything from the bank to dive bars (both of which occurred mere minutes after frequenting those places and vee complaining the entire time), but it most certainly wasn't what eddie brock wanted to do in the middle of the night.

pushing a few strands of hair out of his face, eddie was able to see a bit more clearly, though his eyes still stung when trying to open them fully. he turned to face the clock- three o'clock. now facing the ceiling again, eddie thought to himself, "this may as well happen."

"such as...?" he hesitantly began.

a silence filled the room for a mere five seconds before venom retorted, the same bellowing voice bouncing from wall to wall. "how about pussy?? cause you're a pussy, get it." their hosts tired moans of disagreement was enough to make them reconsider. after another ten seconds of pondering, of which eddie could feel seeping throughout his brain, vee was already exhausted at this task. "idiot will work." it was just then that eddie realized that the symbiote was slowly raising from his body, and with each inch that the black mass emerged from his body so did the crippling ache in his back. at the very instant that the last syllable was uttered did they seep back into him, though the sting that was once very prominent was slowly withering away. venoms presence within him caused a slight jerk in his left leg, and then his right arm, and all of a sudden eddie was arranged in a way that felt absolutely orgasmic. with each twitch he could feel any semblance of hurt cease, and gradually he fell deeper and deeper into slumber.

in any other situation, eddie would appear horribly disfigured, but the manner in which his other half was whirling around his being and soothing every knot and cramp within him distracted from the possibility of multiple broken bones. eddie was amazed.

"sleeping on your back hurts you, this will be better" venom huffed.

"t-thanks, vee" he murmured whilst between conscious and unconscious states.

"no problem, loser," the baritone speech within his head only seemed to further lull him to sleep. "loser, yeah, eddie is a loser." if it wasn't for his slow decline into deep sleep, eddie would probably agree.

[happy new year, guys. be safe:P]
