It was New Year's Eve and you were over at Minghao's house to celebrate, your parents were there too and they were busy talking about boring adult problems in the kitchen. You, Minghao and Jun were playing karaoke in the living room, you've never played karaoke before, but the two brothers made it so much fun, they were always singing off-key purposely and you were on the floor dying of laughter at their voice cracks. Only about an hour till the clock strikes 12.
There was food, a lot of it, but you didn't want to unleash your inner monster so you just ate some of those crackers with little cubes of cheese, it made your stomach growl furiously. Minghao kept laughing at your stomach making noises, saying "It's angry, feed it some more!" And that's when you just about had enough with your stomach, you took a plate and piled all the food you could find on top of it. You sat back down next to Minghao and ate as if you've never eaten in your life, Minghao and Jun stared in awe, and in just 5 minutes you were licking your plate clean. "Ahh, there we go, the monster is momentarily satisfied." You said as you rubbed your stomach and leaned back.
The TV was on, it was playing the stupid New Year's show with performances in New York City. You couldn't help but think about how bad the performances have been getting over the past few years. "The artists just seem to be getting worse and worse, don't they?" You commented. "It'd be better if you were up there singing, Minghao~" You teased him. "Oh come on.." He fussed. You nudged him with your elbow, "I'm just playing with you, silly~" You looked over at the clock, 30 minutes. You were so bored, the time was taking forever. You groaned and looked over at Minghao, he looked back down at you. "I'm bored~" You whined.
"I know, just a little while longer, don't worry." He said as he got up and stood behind your chair, he began to play with your hair again. You slapped his hands away, "Hey, I put actual effort for my hair to look like this." You said with a fake angry face. You didn't really put any effort, you just took the top half of your hair and tied it up, you weren't really a person that knew how to do real fancy hairstyles. You let Minghao play with your hair for a bit and soon after, Jun decided to join the party. "Okay you take this half and I take this half." You heard Minghao tell Jun and felt your hair be split up in two sections. Soon enough you had a completely different hairstyle on each side and it made you look like an absolute idiot.
"Thanks, guys, too bad you don't get a tip." You joked around and got up to sit in front of the TV with your parents and the other two parents. Only 4 minutes..? You didn't think the boys were playing around with your hair for that long. The brothers sat on either side of you, looking at the countdown timer. 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute. As the numbers kept getting smaller and smaller, more people began to countdown, a couple more seconds passed by and we were all at 10 seconds. 9.. 8.. 7.. 6.. 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" Everyone in the house screamed and everyone over on the TV yelled out. You had your eyes closed and your arms in the air, excited for this new year, until you felt those familiar hands around your cheeks and those familiar, warm, tingly, pair of lips against yours.
The kiss made you feel so much happier, you wrapped your arms around Minghao's neck, the kiss ended shortly after. You opened your eyes and met Minghao's shimmering ones. "The happiest New Year's ever goes to this one!" You exclaimed, you were at your happiest right now and you didn't want it to end. Minghao laughed as he embraced you in a warm, loving hug. You felt Jun throw himself into the hug as well, you heard him giggle a bit. He's so goofy.. "Happy New Year's, Y/N." Minghao said to you as you all released from the hug, "Yeah, happy New Year's!" Jun said excitedly. "Happy New Year's, everyone." and with that, the new year started.
