The sound of a door slamming snapped me awake. I looked over to the clock on my bed side table. 7:38. I had twenty minutes until classes started. Groaning, I rolled out of bed and took the fastest shower I had every taken in my whole sixteen years of life. If I didn't go to classes today people would start to wonder, especially Kid. He was annoying.
I stepped out of the bathroom after drying my hair and screamed. Speak of the devil, Kid was sitting on my bed, looking at a bunch of papers. Wait. Papers. No. Those were my files, the ok new the PI gave me.
"What the hell are you doing with these?" I yelled, snatching the papers out of his hands.
"Is this why you did it? Is this why I had to find you on the floor of this room? Is this why I sat by your side for two days, worried and scared that you wouldn't wake up?" his voice became progressively louder until he matched my volume. He sounded scared, and his hands were shaking. I grabbed my bag and stormed out of the room. He didn't need to know anything about me, it wasn't any of his business.
On my way out, I ran into Jack. I hadn't seen him in quite some time since he was in a different class than me. I tried to walk past him like I didn't see him, but he called me over.
"Hey Amelia!" he called. One of the blonde bimbos that was always following Kid around was with him. I walked toward him. There was no way I was getting out of this one. Then I realized what time it was. Jack was cutting class.
"Jackson David Tyler, what the hell do you think you're doing?" I scolded him, reverting back to my big sister mode. His mom, Rose, was very sick and his dad was busy all the time, so I was the one to take care of him.
"Well, umm, I was just spending some time with my friend Patty here," he mumbled, pointing over at the blonde bimbo. She was the shorter of the two, and more hyper. Just by the way he said her name, I could tell they were a whole lot more than friends.
"Fine. Just don't do anything you'll regret," I warned him. His eyes widened when he figured out what I meant. He stuttered a denial, but I was already walking away to my first class.

Classes, as usual, we're boring. Teachers droned on and on about things that would have absolutely zero meaning once I left this hell hole and I was quite fed up with it.
After my second class, I decided to skip and go to the library. I loved books, and my third class was the one I had to share with Kid, so it all worked out.
Once I got myself unlost, I shouldered open the tall wooden doors. They were carved with intricate designs, swirling around vines of silver and gold. If the rest of the library was like these doors, I might just pass out.
When I stepped into the library, my sudden intake of breath made me light headed. Maybe I would pass out after all.
Huge shelves lined the walls, going all the way up to the ceiling, which was three stories up. Books were everywhere; crammed in the book cases, stacked on tables. I could stay in here for a year and not run out of books. That was kind of a big deal, since I tend to read super fast. I picked up a random book from the table next to me and curled up on the floor, losing myself in the world of fiction.

I give you all full permission to throw rotten fruit at me.*puts on poncho*
however, I shall make it up to you soon. I'm not gonna tell you how, because that's ruining the prize. But I can tell you it won't be in Amelia's POV.
