I woke up in the hospital the next morning. My mother was going crazy, asking me why I didn't run or why Liam couldn't protect me. She yelled at the other doctors in the hospital as well. I told her it wasn't anybody in the hospital's fault, especially Liam. He could barely walk, how did she expect him to protect me?

She told me about the boy who attacked me, and how they found him dead on the roof. Liam was gone. I was in front of his room by myself for some time. She told me I had a torn ligament in my back and my arm was dislocated. All of this from a dead boy.

"So is this gonna be my temporary bed for the day or something?" I asked her after a few minutes of me sitting in the empty hospital room had passed. She walked over to me and sat on the edge of my bed. Her arm slid around my shoulder as she massaged my arm.

"Well, the doctor wants you to stay a few more hours, but I'll try to convince him to let you leave."

I faintly smiled. "Thanks for the help." I said as she got up to leave the room.

"You're welcome, sweetie."

Thoughts of Liam kept brimming throughout my head. Was he okay? How was he feeling? What happened after I got knocked out? I was worried about him, but kept assuring myself he was fine. My mother walked back into the room after a few minutes had passed.

"When can I leave?" I asked her.

She smiled and said, "The doctors are saying in a few more hours, they just need to examine you for a little more and see how you're doing."

I frowned and sighed. I just wanted to check on Liam and go home. My mother left the room right after that. They needed her to tend to other patients.

I was in the quiet, white empty room by myself again. I was getting tired of sitting down, so I unwrapped the blanket that I was under off of me and stepped off of the uncomfortable hospital bed. Pain immediately shot throughout my back. I squealed in pain and punched the bed. I stayed in my hunched over position and slowly got back on my bed. I huffed in annoyance and closed my eyes until I heard my door open and I saw Scott standing there with a bouquet of flowers.

After seeing him yesterday with the red eyes I wanted answers.

"Hey," he said as he walked towards me. "Here, these are for you." I reached over and grabbed the flowers. I thanked him and forced a smile on my face. I guess it was a little noticeable because he raised his eyebrow at me.

"What's wrong?" he asked, his face spreading with confusion.

"I have something to say to you. Before I passed out, I saw you. You had red eyes, claws, a lot facial hair, everything," I spoke in a fearful voice. "What are you? Like an alien or something?" I asked, my jaw clenched tightly.

He shook his head and grabbed my shoulder. "You must've hit your head really hard, because I didn't have any of that," he replied.

I sighed in annoyance and frustration. "Yes you did!"

He shook his head. "Listen, you hit your head really hard on the wall. You must've been imagining it."

I put my head in my hands and groaned. Knowing I clearly wasn't going to win, I just leaned back and closed my eyes. "Fine. I must've been imagining it."

After a few moments of silence, I broke the ice. "Hey, so how's Liam?" I shyly asked. He gave me a half-smile and told me he was fine. I smiled in relief.

"Why are you so worried?" He raised an eyebrow.

"I wasn't worried. Please, that's the last thing I am," I lied.

He smirked and laughed. "Well, he's fine. Listen, I gotta go, I so I'll see you in school I guess," he said. I nodded as he left the room. Sighing, I rested my head on the uncomfortable pillow and waited for the doctors to finish up their evaluation.
