I slept in till I felt my shoulder being shook. I rolled over and put my face in my pillow. I didn't want to wake up yet. My shoulder got nudged yet again and I curled into a ball. The moment my head got slapped, I knew Nicole was trying to wake me up. Mom and Dad wouldn't hit me in order to wake me up. But Nicky on the other hand, would do anything to get what she wanted.
I rolled on my back and opened my eyes. I turned my head to face Nicole and she had a huge grin on her face.
"What?" I asked her.
"Hi," she giggled.
I went to close my eyes again, but Nicole hit my arm. "No sleeping."
"What time is it?" I asked rubbing my eyes.
"Eleven," she shrugged.
I jolted upward and exhaled. "Eleven?"
"Yeah. You partied really hard last night," she said.
"Wow," I sighed,
"Oh, your parents went to pick something up. So it's just us," Nicole shrugged.
"Okay," I nodded.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
I nodded. "Like you said. Partied too hard last night."
My phone buzzed and I looked at the caller ID. Chase. What was he calling me for? I put the phone to my ear and asked, "Hello?"
"Hey. Have a good birthday?" he asked.
"Uh, yeah. It was fun. Thanks for asking," I said.
"Well, hey. Me and my new friends are throwing a party tonight. You and Nicole wanna come?" he asked.
I sighed. "I don't know if my parents would let me go. Plus, I don't know where you live."
"It can't hurt to ask, and I'll text you the address. C'mon, it'll be fun," he said.
"I'll ask," I said.
"Great! It starts at six," he said and hung up.
I sighed and set the phone next to me and looked at Nicole. "Wanna go to a party?"
"Yes!" she giggled.
"Well, let's go ask my mom," I said getting off my bed.
"Mrs. Barns," Nicole called.
"Yes?" Mom asked. "Oh, look who's up!" she giggled, seeing me.
"Chase invited us to his party tonight. Can we go?" she asked.
"Chase? Chase Jackson?" Mom asked.
"Yeah, Mom, he was at the party last night," I said.
"Let me google him," Mom said sitting behind her computer.
"He's my boss's nephew," I said.
"Oh. Then fine. You can go. But I want you home at eleven," Mom said sternly.
"Great! Thank you!" Nicole yipped.

All day long, Nicole made me try on various shirts, skirts, and jeans. She was always so ready for parties. Given that I rarely got to go to a party, Nicole chose my outfit for me and did my hair and makeup. She made me look like some model that just stepped off the catwalk and is on a break.
When we were both ready, we took pictures. Chase texted the details of the party to mine and Nicole's phone. She was texting Chase, giggling, while I put in a cute little barrett. I really hoped that Chase was good to her. (If they ever got together). Nicole was a really good person--and like a sister. She didn't deserve to be mistreated.
