a/n: sorry I haven't updated in a while! I've been super busy with school, but here's a new one-shot! enjoy!
Jack's POV
I wake up to the smell of bacon and coffee wafting through the house. I snuggle deeper into the covers, trying to get warm. We're in the middle of February and let me tell you. It's FREEZING. Along with the smell of breakfast, I hear my lovely husband Jonah's voice drifting upstairs.
You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy, when skies are gray.
After listening to his voice for a few more minutes, I decide it's time to go downstairs. I'm still in my red checkered boxers, but who cares? Definitely not Jonah. I think he'll even appreciate that I didn't put a shirt on.
"Hi Jo-bear," I say. He's wearing a purple apron with the words, Kiss the Cook, on them. So I do just that. Creeping up behind him, I wrap my arms around his waist and kiss his cheek. He turns his face towards me.
"Good morning, sleepy head," He says. Setting down his oven mitts, he turns around and kisses me on the lips. Jonah smells nice, like pines and sugar cookies. We're so deep into the kiss, that we don't realize our two beautiful children have come down the stairs and are fake gagging behind us.
"Ahem, daddy, dad... please stop." Aiden, our ten year old, stands with his arms crossed behind us, with Layla, our seven year old close behind him.
Just to prove our point, Jonah kisses me one more time before turning around to take the bacon out of the oven.
"Good morning, you two," I say as I crouch down to hug them both in a bear hug.
"Can we watch TV with our breakfast?" asks Layla.
"Sure," I answer. Grabbing the remote, Aiden turns on Voltron, his favorite show.
"Breakfast's ready!" shouts Jonah. "By the way, he adds, I still totally ship Keith and Lance."
"Well too bad, dad. In season 8, Lance and Allura get together." Aiden speaks in his know it all tone, as if he is so much smarter than Jonah.
"Fine. Just get your food and sit down." Coming over to me, Jonah whispers, "Why does he have to show me up?" Pouting, he lays his head on my shoulder.
"Aww, baby, he's just being a kid. Let him have his fun." Grabbing a plate, I snatch up some bacon and eggs and sit down next to Layla on the couch. Jonah sits on her other side, by Aiden.
Layla shifts closer to Jonah and whispers in his ear, "It's okay dad, I still ship Lance and Keith."
"Thanks sugar," Jonah sighs. I look at him, a twinkle in my eye. We all know she's a daddy's girl. After watching one episode of Voltron, Jonah announces that he's going to go take a shower and that it's up to me to clean up the dishes.
"Alright, you two. Let's get to cleaning..." After cleaning the dishes and setting them out to dry, I let Layla and Aiden watch a movie as I go upstairs to find Jonah.
"JoJo?" I whisper, poking my head into our room. When I don't hear a reply, I step cautiously onto the carpeted floor.
"Boo!" shouts Jonah, scaring me into a frazzled expression.
"Jonah!" I shout. "What was that for?"
"That was for you coming in without knocking," he says jokingly. As if I haven't seen him naked already.
Tackling me into a bear hug, Jonah and I lay on our bed, soon snuggled deep in the covers. His hair smells freshly of his coconut shampoo, and the bed is warm from our skin. I could stay in this position forever, but soon Aiden and Layla enter the room.
"Daddy?" Layla asks. "Can i come up there?" Without waiting for an answer, she clambers onto our bed, with Aiden right on her heels. Soon, we're all covered in the warm blankets, and a feeling of contentment fogs my brain. What a perfect Saturday morning.
