Aargh stumbled through the trees, rain soaking his fur and lightning stabbing the sky, thunder making his ears hurt. The large troll flinched at every shadow in the surrounding darkness, ran a little faster at every noise; he could only think of Gunmar chasing him, hurting him-
Thunder boomed again and a flash of blue caught Aargh's eye. Another troll! It's eyes widened when it say him and it took off through the trees. Aargh gave chase, growling at the retreating figure. It could be a spy of Gunmar, looking for him! It had to die.
The large troll hunted his prey for only a few minutes before reaching a cave system, where he switched to tracking by scent instead of sight. Finally, the other troll was trapped; backed against a wall, its small chest heaved up and down far too fast.
"Please don't eat me! I'm sorry, I'll do whatever you want, just don't eat me!" The little troll covered his face with all four hands, shaking like a leaf, and something about him softened Aargh's heart. He slowly approached the other troll, then sniffed his long blue hair so hard that it stood up before being flattened by Aargh's exhale.
"You... spy for Gunmar?" The little troll shook his head frantically. "What name then?" The troll stammered but managed to say, "Blinkous Galadrigal." Aargh huffed. "Blink.. Blinkou..." The blue troll saw Aargh's struggles and added, "You can just call me Blinky. Sorry I ran- I'm not supposed to be out in the forest like this and I thought you might be one of Vendel's guards coming after me."
Aargh sat back with a low sigh, eyes sad and droopy with exhaustion. "Escaped Gunmar. Don't want to be scary. Don't like all the screams, don't want to hurt people." Blinky nodded, then reached out to offer a tentatively consoling pat on Aargh's large arm. "You don't want to be bad anymore, I think I can understand that. Listen, I- it's still pretty nasty out there. Do you want to stay the night in here with me? Maybe I could help you, I could talk to Vendel and get you let into troll market. You'll be safe from Gunmar there."
A low, pleased rumble sounded in Aargh's throat and he smiled. "Safe... good. Thank you." The two went to sleep in the cavern, exhaustion elbowing caution out of the way for the two strangers.
*It's starting!! :D I can't wait to hear what you guys think.*
