Chapter 4
Percy's POV
I was in shock. I stared at the body's of my two cousins, not only think of their deaths but the ones of all my family.
'Family are the ones who love you for being you. Family are the ones who are there for you in your darkest moments. Family are the friends you can't imagine life without.'
I couldn't cry. I was in so much shock and denial that it just wasn't real to me yet.
'The saddest kind of sad is when your tears can't even drop and you feel nothing. It's like the worlds ended. You don't cry, you don't hear, you don't see. You just stay there. And for a second, the heart dies.'
Silence kept me company, while I died inside. Silence is deafening. Silence was many things, like the hearts of my friends beating no more.
'It takes noise to appreciate silence and silence to appreciate noise.'
I backed up into a tree and hugged myself. I wished to die. All my friends were in the afterlife. I had nothing to live for. I looked at the sky in dispair. Bright stars littered the night above me. I spotted the Huntress. I smiled up at her, remembered a promise, and uttered 3 words, "Bob says hello."
Holding back unshed tears, I closed my eyes and fell asleep, one that was surprisingly peaceful.
I had no idea what the fates had in store for me.
.........................
Light filtered through the leaves to where I sat. I rubbed my eyes and opened them slowly. The trees sparkled around me, dew dripping from the leaves like tears.
My glaze flicked over to where my cousins lay, are where they should have been. My eyes widened at the sight or in this case, lack of one.
I felt guilty for not giving them a proper ceremony. How were they going to get to the underworld without- I stopped my thoughts abruptly. This was Thalia and Nico I was thinking about.
I could just imagine Thalia's threats and Nico's indifference when the man asked for money, "Excuse me, I am the son of Hades! You will let us pass or you'll be sorry."
I smiled at the thought. There was no point in mopping. What would Annabeth think of me? I could just hear her voice, "If you don't get off your butt, I will personally find a way to come back from the dead and smack you."
As if she had really said that, I quickly got up as if my life depended on it. So lost, was I, in thought, did I not notice any at all different.
I absentmindedly wondered to the lake, the same one, in fact, that I had fought Hyperion on. I touched his maple tree. He certainly did make a better tree than Titan.
"Hey, kid."
"Kid!"
Exasperated I turned towards the voice. Seeing who it was I rolled my eyes, it was a 13-year-old boy with brown hair that matched his eyes.
"Where's your parents, kid? Surely, they must be worried."
That struck a nerve considering my parents had just died and my father had never really been there. I walked away from him, not willing to think about it.
"Don't walk away from me. I was talking to you." The boy snarled.
I snapped around, "Can you just leave me alone?" I hissed.
Then I realized something. The boy was taller than me. I looked into the lake and saw myself except...
I sucked in a breath. What were the fates thinking this time? I was a 6-year-old again.
The 13-year-old grabbed me by the shirt. "Don't talk to me like that midget." Then he smiled, "Don't you know it's dangerous to wonder off alone?"
I punched him, "There are much more dangerous things, like your breath for instance." I hissed. Then I marched away leaving a shocked boy behind.
Completely freaked by the turn of events, I wasn't looking where I was going and ran smack into someone. I was knocked down to the ground and scraped my knee. I muttered a Greek curse under my breath.
A girl came into my view. She grabbed my hand and pulled me up. She smiled at me sweetly. "I'm sorry I knocked you over."
"No it was my fault, I wasn't being careful." I wiped the dust off my jeans and glared at the rip in them. "Sorry," I apologize looking into her eyes.
Her eyes were blue, electric blue, and she had choppy black hair. Her clothes were styled like a punk's. I stared upon my 11-year-old cousin with shock. Thalia was alive.
I backed up, sort of awed, but Thalia must have thought I was scared. I was a 6-year-old again. That's what you'd expect of one.
That's when 'he' intervened. "Hey it's okay, we're not going to hurt you.' I don't know what I looked like when I saw him, but I couldn't talk to them now. I needed to figure things out not in front of people, especially not them.
So I ran from Luke and Thalia, trying to take in the fact that they were still alive.
I found myself in a deserted ally way. I leaned against a wall and thought 2 main things:
1. I was in the past as a 6-year-old
2. All of the people who had died were alive. So that would meanThalia, Luke- Mom!I ran to where our old apartment was. I completely forgot she would still be alive. Things were looking up. My face lit up, my eyes sparkled. I was much happier than I was in the last couple days- err, days I was conscious.
I shook my head, reeling in my wondering mind. In front of the door to my apartment, I was shaking with excitement. When I opened the apartment door, immediately my positive outlook dropped. I had forgotten something. I had forgotten him.
