Chapter Three
Isabel Covey
"So how was school?" my dad asked me as he took one last bite from his sandwich. As much I didn't want to answer the question, my dad was a doctor so nights like this were kind of rare.
Well, besides being ditched by your best friend for some snarky girl and bumping into this complete stranger who almost managed to break my camera, it was- "Normal as is." I lied breaking into huge grin.
"Normal? I haven't heard that word in a long time." He chuckled. I rolled my eyes at him and began to dig into my pasta. Mhmm!
Creased lines began to appear across his forehead as he smiled at me. He looked so tired that I felt so bad for him. "You know if anything goes wrong, I'm here for you Isabel." He said.
"Thanks dad." I say and add,"I should do the dishes tonight. You should get some sleep."
He puts his plate down and walk towards me. I close my eyes as he kisses my head. "Good night, Isabel." and proceeds upstairs.
I clean the kitchen, starting with the dishes. As long as my dad was happy, I was too. Nothing like a great friday night, I think to myself.
❁ ❁ ❁
It was three am when I was busy flipping through the channels in the living room when someone knocked on the front door. Since my dad had to go to work because it was an emergency for one of his patients, I was home alone.
I couldn't call Luke because I was still angry at him for ditching me. I also couldn't contact my older brother because he lived all the way in NYC. Someone call 911?
As I slowly walked to the door, I realized that wasn't this the beginning of every horror movie? This was terrifying and it was really really bad.
"Who's there?" I shouted as I opened the door. There was no sign of anyone except for the pizza box on my door step. This was it, I thought to myself. The toppings would probably spell out some horrifying message.
I couldn't take the deadly anticipation so I just lifted the box and prepared for my last words.
"Pepperoni?" I exclaimed. There was no message written on the pizza just Pepperoni. Thank heavens.
Suddenly, Luke emerged from the darkness. His cheeks were rosy as ever and his messy blond curls were a mess. He had a grin on his face as he walked to the front porch. "Typical Covey."
I held the box of pizza with pride. "What are you doing here?"
Luke sighed scratching the back of his neck. It was a habit of his when he knew he was in trouble. "I'm sorry for ditching you, Is." he spoke softly. I looked away as he continued, "I like Mads and all, but If I had to choose between you two, I'd definitely pick you over a heartbeat."
Even though I disliked Mads, I knew she didn't deserve to be second. She also didn't have to be a choice. "Look," I started to say as I leaned on the door frame. "I'm sorry okay? I was being so immature. It was just weird seeing you happy with someone else."
"And for Mads? I don't think i'll ever like her, but I know you like her and she likes you too. You don't have to pick between both of us. I'm supposed to be your best friend. I'm supposed to be happy for you." I said looking down at my feet already regretting my anger and feelings.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Thanks, Isabel. You mean a lot to me." I looked up to see Luke smile. He looked like those typical cute high school guys who play basketball or whatever. Mads was really lucky. "Now why don't we enjoy some three AM pizza. Why don't we watch one of your dad's movie collections?"
"I am not watching another sappy Nicholas Sparks movie with you, Lukey." I poke him in the stomach. Luke loved Nicholas Sparks movies. He once made me watch four movies in one night. I repeat. Four movies in one night.
He groans and finally says, "Isabel, you're such a hater. Fine, I guess we're going with Scream." I squeal in delight and he adds, "Just know I'm doing it only for the pizza." he points at the box and I punched him on the arm making him yelp like a little girl.
"What? Do you think it's cool to watch people get stabbed every ten minutes?" he opens the door as I enter. Before I can defend myself he says,"I don't think so." sounding like Cher from Clueless.
Oh Luke.

What's up coconuts? Hope you guys enjoyed the update!
I really love Isabel and Luke's friendship. I'm actually terrified because me and Kim might end up with both of them in the end.
I also know that we haven't seen a lot of Oli and Isabel, but it's just the beginning so just you wait!
Have a great day and á plus!
