A Desperate Comeback
---
Nagisa's POV
"Nagisa! Would you mind explaining to me what's going on?!" As soon as I got inside my apartment room, Mom was already standing in front of me and had an upset expression on her face. Her hands were placed on her hips as she demanded an explanation.
"Mom, I can explain, but not right now!" I quickly changed into my indoor slippers and went past her, heading toward my room.
"What do you mean not right now?? Didn't you know that I was so worried about you??" Mom continued to shout at me.
"I'm really sorry, but I have to go! I'll get back at you later, I promise! We still got a lot of time to talk but I need to fix something first!" I told her while I was now inside my room and currently rummaging through my drawers to find a change of clothes.
I took off my shirt and pants, changed them, picked up a leather coat thinking that it might be colder outside since it's evening, and hurried back toward the door.
But just as I was about to walk past her again, this time, she grabbed me by the collar and stopped me.
"And just where do you think you're going?!" She was starting to get impatient.
"I told you there's something that I need to fix! It's involving someone that I care about!" Her grip was so strong that it almost made me choke so I stopped struggling.
However, when she heard my excuse, I felt her grip loosening from my coat. She then eventually, but unexpectedly, let me go.
"Fine. But when you come back, you better tell me everything." She didn't sound upset anymore, bringing me with little relief. She started to walk toward the kitchen as she said this.
"Okay, mom." I scratched the back part of my head as I agreed to her terms with a little feeling of guilt.
I feel bad that I made her so worried but didn't receive any explanation to reassure herself. But I'm running out of time.
If I want to get to Kayano's place without getting interrupted, then now is the perfect time. If I choose to go later, there won't be any trains that I can board on to get there tonight. You see, the next train that arrives at the closest train station arrives at around 6:00pm to 6:30pm. Beyond that, the next train arrives the next morning, so you see I don't have a choice.
However, at first, I don't know where Kayano lives. But thankfully, Karma told me her address by email awhile ago, and also by chance, I saw a lot of emails from Kayano, together with the missed calls from her.
Though this is no time to start regretting things. I hurried toward the door and wore my outdoor shoes.
"Alright!"

Meanwhile, just as I finished tying my shoe laces, the door bell in front of me suddenly rang.
"Nagisa? Who's at the door?" I heard mom shouting from the kitchen. With all this going on, she's still aware of incoming unexpected guests, I see.
"Just a sec, mom!" I shouted back at her and went to check whoever's outside by peeking through the peephole on the door.
When I saw the visitor—no, make that visitors, outside, I immediately realized who they were.
I quickly opened the door to greet them. But more importantly, I'm more confused what they were doing here, so I guess it's a half greeting.
