"You know, I've been thinking," Mitch started. Scott was driving them all to go see a movie. "Before the repetition I used to take a lot of crap from a lot of people. But now, if I were to get out, I wouldn't care as much." They all nodded. Scott decided it was a positive of the situation.

"I guess it just puts it in perspective." Kevin said.

"Everything seems so small and unimportant in the repetition, and I'm sure when we're out-" Kirstin was cut off.

"If we get out." Scott commented.

She sighed. "If we get out, we'll appreciate each day more, since we won't get a redo every time."

They all agreed.

"You know what," Matt exclaimed, "Screw this. I'm tired of this 'if we get out' nonsense. I want to be out. I want to live my life. Why, why, why would anyone have to go through this hell? What is causing us to do this?"

They were all silent. None of them had the answer. Scott wouldn't let them get down. He pulled the car into a Target parking lot.

"Scott, what the hell?" Mitch asked.

He turned around to face them.

"You know what," he declared, "whatever is causing this future for us; whatever is making this repetition, just knows. Knows that we were meant to be together. If it weren't for the repetition, none of us would have met."

They all processed the information. Scott took Mitch's and Kirstin's hands. Everyone followed. They all held hands.

"I love you guys. And we were meant to be. And I'll always run to you." With Scott's words, his chest lit up in blue light. Kirstin's turned pink, Mitch green, Kevin yellow, and Matt's white. They were shocked.

The colored lights filled the drab car with an explosion of beauty, making all of their eyes sparkle. Scott looked down at his chest. The blue light was nearly blinding, it was coming from where his heart was. He was mesmerized by it, almost hypnotizing him.

In only a few seconds, Kirstin let go of Scott and Matt's hands. The light went away.

"Kirstie!" Scott exclaimed.

"I-I'm sorry guys.. what if it's dangerous? What w-was that?" She asked. They all shook their heads. They didn't know.

"Let's try it again!" Matt exclaimed. Kirstin took Mitch's and Matt's hands and waited. Nothing happened.

They let go. "Clearly, the magic is gone. Come on Kirstin." Kevin said, disappointed.

Scott started driving away to the theater. They were all still partially in shock. He wondered if Kirstin really pulled away because it might be dangerous. Maybe there was another reason.

They got to the theater, watched the movie, and left. Scott could tell none of their minds were really on the movie. They were thinking about the light. It filled their heads, took over their thoughts. They didn't know what it meant.

But Scott has a hunch that it was their ticket out of the Repetition.
