"Baby, you've been talking to him
⠀⠀⠀nearly every day
⠀⠀⠀⠀He really likes all the games that
⠀⠀⠀⠀you play."

"It's Luke?"

The laundromat was quiet, apart from the faded music playing in the background and the rumbling of washing machines. The place wasn't exactly humming with activity, in fact it was the total opposite of that, with only an old couple sitting in the plastic chairs, waiting.

Briella watches as Calum's eyes almost bulge out of their sockets. He stands up from his original position, crouching on the floor trying to pick up a pair of boxers that fell from the basket. He swallows, "What makes you say that?"

Her mind is thrown back to the day at the diner, the small information he gave her made it seem likely to be Luke, yet Briella knew for a fact that he was still love smitten with Andrea, so it couldn't possibly be him.

She swings her legs in the air, occasionally hitting the front of the appliance, her feet not able to touch the ground while sitting on a washing machine opposite the one Calum was using. "Just with what you said and all..." Calum eyes her curiously, her hair was covering most of her face as she looked down at the floor when all he wants to do is walk up to her and brush it out of the way.

He shakes his head from any thoughts, looking away from her as he slips in some detergent to the machine, shutting the cover and hearing it rumble to life.

"Well do you want it to be him?"

Briella's head snaps up to meet Calums eyes. It looked as if he were trying to figure her out, leaning against one of the many laundry machines with his arms crossed over his chest. She stays silent for a moment, not exactly expecting that question from him.

"I don't know..."she eyes him carefully for any reaction, "I guess not. Plus I don't think it's him."

She watches as he stares at her, none of them breaking eye contact as cogs work through his brain as he thinks of his response. "But why not? I mean you're beautiful," he blurts out, eyes widening as if he's done something wrong and he's just now realised it.

Both pairs of eyes grow wide in size now. Briella feels weird, this was Calum we're talking about, her bestfriend who never complimented her in that way. Her heart unknowingly increases slightly in speed at his fortuitous words.

"Thanks I guess..." Silence. Calum glances down at the floor, avoiding her eyes at all cost. "Uhm it just doesn't fit right - we already talked about this once before, back in 7th grade."

Still looking down, Calum mumbles out, "What happened in 7th grade?"

This was starting to feel like an interview, but Briella answered nonetheless. "I had my first kiss." Calum's whole attention seemed to spark at that, looking up at her. "With Luke?" He already could tell what the answer to that was, but he wish he didn't.

Briella lifted her head timidly in response, playing with a thread on her old scrawny jeans, the string pulling out between her fingers. "But it's okay, we laugh at it whenever we think back to it." Calum nodded along, encouraging her to continue, "We were embarrassed, everyone already had theirs and we felt lame, so it happened, we were each other's first."

Calum doesn't know what to say, because now whenever he sees Luke, that's all he'll think about. "But enough about that, who was yours, huh Hood?" a smirk finds it's way to Briella's face as she rests her chin on her palm, her elbow propped onto her knee.
