"Baby,
do you understand me now,
Sometimes I feel a little mad,
but don't you know that no one alive can ALWAYSSSS be an angel,
and all I seem to be is bad,
But I'm just a soul who's intentions are good....
OH NO please don't let me be misunderstood!"

I sing 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' by The Animals loudly (and flawlessly) in my 1967 painted dark blue Cadillac (no idea about cars) on my way to Forks High school.

My first day in a school for that matter! I look down at my outfit, contemplating if I should change go back to my place of rest and change my attire for the 100th time.

A pastel blue cropped turtleneck, that shows off my toned stomach, but still makes me look classy. A black skater skirt. Black fish nets (ironic) adorn my long legs. Shoes are placed on my new feet that have white laces and a white bottom yet it is black everywhere else, which also has a small star on the side and says 'All Star', no idea what that is, I'm not used to wearing running shoes, usually I would wear high heals when I would dance at the 'Black Diamond'. Along with my bright obnoxious yellow rain jacket since I've heard people say about how it's in fashion now, whatever that means. A black school that holds my school material, and of course a blue 'umbrella' which supposedly blocks out the water that falls from the sky. Can't have my fins coming out uninvited, can't I!

Is this what 'teenagers' wear? No clue. I was would always wear what people would say is 'proactive' when working at the club. I've seen pages labeled 'magazines' with items like these in them.

My hip length navy blue hair is entrapped in a complex pattern, reaching my waist. I watched a...um.. 'YouTube tutorial'? Yes, that on it, it is called a braid. I blow out a piece of my new 'bangs' out of habit out of my face. I would almost always have it down before, Joey, the boss of the Black Diamond said that people love my long flowy hair. But I find this 'braid' more convenient, and versatile. I tap my foot at a high speed with all the extra energy I hav- Oh look a butterfly!

Well I'm almost at the school, so there's no point in second guessing myself. After I park the auto machine in the yellow lined square within the area, I get out of the car and lock it with the 'keys' the dealership gave me. It's my first car, so give me a break. I walk towards the doors, since it's my first day, the kind woman on the phone said I could come in after the the designated time. Yippee for me! I got to sleep in and have an early swim.

I walk towards the place labeled 'OFFICE', swinging my umbrella lightly. I open the door and approach the lady with a nameplate saying 'secretary'. As she looks up and notices me her eyes widen. I usually have that effect on people. Joey used to say that I'm very beautiful as he touched me. So would the clients who watched me dance, but Joey would never let them touch me, he would get very mad if they did and hurt them till his hands bleed.

I smile at her and she smiles back still with a look of 'awe' in her eyes. Her gaze held in my piercing silver eyes.

Not grey

Not grey. Silver. One way you can tell I'm something non human, that and my slightly pointed ears...and other attributes, but humans don't usually notice them or care.

"Good day, I'm a new student here, my names Lyra Cardinal."

I tell her. She looks surprised for a moment. People usually tell me how formal I am. She nods her head slightly and types a few thing on the keyboard in front of her and then looks at the computer screen. Then looks back at me and gives me another smile.

"Yes deary, here's your schedule, your locker and your combination."

She says handing a two papers, highlighting things on them.

"Here are your today's classes."

She points at names on the paper along with class numbers next to them.

I have History with Mr. Tanner first, then Gym with Mr. Marchovich second, Lunch for an hour, Chemistry with Mr. Struter and lastly Biology with Mr. Casy. Not to bad. Joey used to teach me some of this stuff, his favorite was Biology, he used to show me the different areas on the body. But I can't wait for gym! I get to get all of my energy out.

I smile at the lady. And wave to her.

"Ha Det."

I say. It means goodbye in Norwegian. My cover story is that I lived in Norway, and then moved to Vegas. Which is not a lie. I am a Norwegian Siren, who prefers the cold. And then I moved to Vegas to explore the world and hopefully get a job, and then I stumbled upon the Black Diamond.

I climb the stairs leading to the second floor where my locker is located. After a few minuets of mindless searching I find my locker. We used to have these to hold our things at the Black Diamond, Joey would usually see me in the locker room.

I open my locker after putting in the combination and but my bag, jacket and umbrella into it. I get out my History books and gym bag, for both first second period so I don't have to go back. I walk to my History class, 32B, when I'm in front of it I knock on the door. A tall man with black hair and glasses, adorning a button up shirt and dress pants, in his mid forty's. He looks at me and his eyes widen and his mouth falls open, after an awkward moment of him staring at me I clear my throat and smile at him.

"You must be Mr. Tanner, a pleasure, I'm Lyra Cardinal."

He snaps out of it and opens the door to me inviting me in. As I stand in front of the class, I hear gasps coming from people, see lustful gazes and feel the awe coming from them.
Whispers erupt. And a wolf whistle erupts somewhere from within the room.

Typical males.

But they can't help it. Makes me feel sorry for them. I just smile brightly at them. Want to make a good first impression. Mr. Tanner gestures to the class and smiles.

"Introduce yourself and say a few things about you, and then take an empty seat."

He tells me. I stand in the middle of the class and place my hands behind my back, folding them together.

"Hello, I'm Lyra, I'm from Norway then moved to Vegas for work, and now I'm here for a change, I love swimming, and I have ADD, any questions?"

I ask them. Multiple raise their hand. I first pick the girl with short brown hair and many piercings, the typical goth look.

"Why did you move away from Vegas?, seems like a once in a life time opportunity to me."

She says with a raised eyebrow and a sassy look on her face. Ah. One of these. I give her a raised eyebrow and a flip of my long braid, most likely making her feel self conscious.

"If you must know I was being stalked by somebody from my work."

She looks shocked. I pick an arrogant looking boy, with long blonde hair and a strong jaw, I'll maybe have him for a meal later.

"Where you like a prostitute or something? Cause I mean come on, it's Vegas."

He smirks. Mr. Tanner goes to interfere.

"Oh, that's quite alright Mr. Tanner, it was a fair question."

I turn back to the boy.

"Actually I was an exotic dancer."
