The silence between my mom and I was awkward. It has been a while since I rode in her car. I usually drove my own car where ever. Brody hadn't called or texted yet. I hoped that I didn't hurt him.
"Tomorrow I have a business convention in Orlando that runs through till next Monday. Your father is going with me for a vacation. Since you are grounded I thought not to take you and that you have school. You will be home alone. Can I trust you?"
"Yes." I was excited about having the house to myself, it would give time for me to be with Brody. If he still wants to be around me that is.
"There are a few rules that you must obey. One, text me everywhere you go at all times. For example in the morning when you go to school text me even when you leave. Two, no skipping school. Three, you can have a few friends over. That does not mean you can have a party. Also stay out of the wine and beer. I know you don't drink, but I'm just clearing that up. Are we clear?"
"Yes all the rules are fair and thank you for letting me stay home." I gave her a sincere smile then looked out the window watching us pull into the driveway. She cut the engine and turned to me and said,
"Laura, are you seeing Brody?" Of course my mom would be the first to notice.
"Yes." I almost felt ashamed. Why though?
"There is nothing to be ashamed of Laura unless you are doing something wrong. I've seen Brody many times with Kinly, he's a good kid. He just... doesn't seem your type." The odd part was the he was my type. Kinly tried making him something that he wasn't.
"I'm not ashamed. Brody isn't the same as you saw him with Kinly. They weren't... compatible."
"And you guys are?"
"Yes we are mom. Can we go inside now?" the truth was, we might not be compatible. It felt like it was just lust at times. Brody and I did work good together. At least more than Kinly and him did. She unlocked the door signalling our conversation was over. I open my door and walk to the front door. I head straight to my room.

Laura- I'm sorry about earlier.

While waiting for Brody to respond back I changed into a pair of sweats and a tank top. *Ding*

Brody- We need to talk about this in person not over the phone.
Laura- I think so too, can you come over to my house tomorrow?
Brody- Okay.

I wasn't going to push for more from him. I grab Pie off of my night stand and flipped to chapter seven. It was titled Chocolate Cream Pie. I loved how each chapter was a new recipe. I wished I had an aunt Polly like Alice's, leaving out the death part though. After about thirty minutes of reading I ended up drifting off, dreaming of blue eyes and night skies.

The annoying song that was set for my alarm sang through the room. I had bought the song when I was thirteen going through a slight dark faze. Shutting off 'Mr. Brightside'. I grasped the loose 'Pearl Jam' shirt off the hanger and pulled the fitted distressed jeans out of the dresser. I felt like wearing a little extra makeup, so I added darker colors to match the dark shirt. And to finish the look I added the cherry merlot lipstick from the night of the concert.

Putting the car into park I stepped out my car seeing an empty space where Kinley's car rested. Brody didn't trail behind me to History like he usually does. Maybe what I said did hurt him more than I thought. Brody sat talking with his friends like his normal self, but he never looked my way. I felt invisible. The bell finally rang making me praise it's being. Then I realised Brody has the next two classes with me. I ran for the nearest bathroom and dry heaved over the toilet. Nothing came out. The bathroom door swung open. Brody ran over to my stall, kneeling next to my side.
"Shit, Laura are you okay?" His presence made me heave harder. Still nothing came out. The heaving started to slow down as Brody rubbed my back. I looked over into his eyes. They looked glossy as if tears had formed. He looked away quickly ducking his head so I couldn't see the emotion on his face.
"Laura what's wrong?" I couldn't tell him it was his fault I was here, so I made up a lie.
"I think it's my nerves over a test I have to take second shift."
"Oh, we better get going before I get caught." Brody started for the door. I needed something from him to know we were fine.
"Brody?" He turned to my direction slowly,
"Yeah?"
"Kiss me." He stood frozen in front of me. Hesitant on whether it was a good idea or not. All I wanted, needed from him is to hold my face hungrily kissing my lips against his. Instead he just stood there staring at me.
"No, that's not a good idea right now." Brody opened the door leaving me on the ground next to the toilet.

While shelving the books. I listened to Hinder to make the hour pass. Every book I put into place made me smile. Most people didn't read, but there was an occasional chicklit. A tap on my shoulder stopped me from placing the last book onto the shelf. I turned around and pulled out one earbud at the same. Brody had his arms crossed against his chest.
"I'm ready to talk." I was too, but I definitely wasn't going to at school.
"We can't here. Just wait till-"
"Let's go to your house now." He just fucking cut me off.
"Don't cut me off."
"Laura please. Let's leave now." The fact he wanted to talk and leave now made me feel giddy.
"Okay." He took the book from my hand placing it in it's correct spot. Then walked out the library doors. I trailed behind him to his car.
