Blake's P.O.V.
The last bell of the school day rung bringing me out of my thoughts. One question would always come to mind though.
"Am I gay?" I wonder as my thoughts drift back to Lucas. I do have to admit that he is kinda cute.
I walk outside and see Lucas starting to walk away. "Now's my chance to say something" I whisper under my breath.
"Hey Lucas wait up!" He turns around to see that it's me. Our eyes met and he started to blush. He looked to the side to pretend it didn't happen I would guess.
"You look cute when you blush." I chuckle. He blushes a deeper red.
"I wanted to get to know you a bit better since I almost broke your phone earlier." I said smiling. "Damn he is cuter than I expected" I thought over and over.
"Are you okay?" I said with a worried expression. "Are you waiting for you parents to come pick you up or do you drive?"
"I'm sorry" Lucas said as he started to run away. I saw tears on his face before he turned out of sight. My ears and tail started to droop.
"Was it something I said?" I thought to myself.I stood there looking after Lucas as he drove off wondering why he left so fast.
A pair of orange arms grabs me from behind catching me off guard. My defensive instincts kick in and I flip my "attacker" onto his back in front of me.
It was Aaron, an average white tailed fox. "My bad Aaron you know not to come up behind me" I tell him as I help him up.
"Arg, that hurt but help as well. My bones were acing so maybe it was on purpose?" Aaron tried to make it convincing, he failed.
"Just don't do it again." I remember my little brother used to do that.
Flashback
"I GOT YOU!!" Mason said wrapping his arms around me from the behind. Mason is...was my little brother, 8 years old. He was a younger version of me but with white paws. "Mom help masons' got me!" I go down pretending to struggle.
"You can't be saved!" Mason yelped as I over take him. We both start to laugh. I'm still on the floor so Mason takes advantage. He pounces on me before I could move.
"Oof, you're not light anymore Mason" I chuckle "You need to be more careful" I say as I take him off me.
"You guys ready to go!" Mom yells from the kitchen. "I am, but i'm not sure Mason is." I yell back as Mason tries to put a shirt on.
"Let me help you little bro" as I start to help him. "NO, I can do this myself!" as he continues to struggle.
I chuckle a little then help him out. He start to pout. "What?" Mason glaring at me "I could've done it myself." I chuckle again.
30 Minutes later
We are at a friends house that has a really big pool celebrating their children's birthday(wolf twins). I get to the door first and ring the doorbell.
Crystal(the hostess and mother of the twins) opens the door. "You guys made it, I'm so glad!!" she says as we all give her a hug.
Crystal's last name is Jackson. The Jackson's have been a family friend for as long as I can remember. The whole family has the same fur pattern.
I go and meet everyone else at the party and then head outside to the pool. It was quite hot so a dip in the pool wouldn't hurt.
Some 20 minutes later someone from the party came to get me for the lighting of the birthday candles. I got out dried myself as best I could and went inside. No one was outside.
We all sang happy birthday. I went over to the twins to pester them like a little kid. "So how old are you guys now!" I said childish. "We are now 6 years old" Alex(one of the twins) said holding up five fingers. I chuckle. "Have fun you two, don't get into any trouble." Jase starts to giggle(the other twin).
I start walking to the back door when I hear a women scream from that direction. I run outside to see whats wrong. All she does is point to the pool.
In the pool was a small figure floating upside down with blue fur. "MASON!" I yell as I jump in to save him. He was at the deep end as well.
I grab him and swim to the side of the pool. As I was pulling him out of the water my parents came running out the back door.
"Give me some room" I said to my parents. "I know CPR" I learned in a class after school. I checked for vital signs, breathing. Nothing.
A snow leopard rushes over to help out. "I know CPR as well!" she said in a hurry not skipping a beat.
We worked as a team to try and resuscitate him. We tried for a solid ten minutes. She puts her hand on my should and says in a sad, mournful tone. "He's gone"
"No, just a little more" not wanting to give up and I start to cry. After another minute I slow to a stop then pick up his body and hold him.
My parents came over after a little bit and sat next to me, mourning my little brother.
I was never the same again.
Present Blake's P.O.V.
Tears roll down my cheeks. "Are you okay Blake?" Aaron said looking worried. "It's nothing, I'll see you tomorrow" I said wanting to leave as soon as possible.
"Hey Blake, I'm sorry if I brought back bad memories. Feel better soon man." He pats my shoulder and walks off.
30 minutes later and I'm in my house. Patience is all I have right now.
