Chapter 5: Stars & Acceptance

Lucas's P.O.V.

I got to school half an hour early so I go to the music building and sit inside while I read a book. I was so into my book that I didn't notice someone come up to me and sit right next to me.

They taped my shoulder and I yelped in surprise. Noticing that Blake was the one who tapped me I start to blush. "H-h-hey Blake, how are y-you?" I manage to stutter out.

"I'm good." was all he said in reply. "I'm sorry about yesterday. I...had some bad memories overcome me." I look down with my ears drooping, tears forming in my eyes.

Blake took my chin and made me look at him, "It's fine, I get the same way" he said in a soft and soothing voice. 

He looks sooo cute when he does that. I sniffle. "Class starts in 5 minutes, I was wondering if I could get your number and hang out after school today?" 

"S-sure" is all I could muster while pulling out my phone and handing it to him. After about a minute of putting in our numbers, Blake gives my phone back and helps me up.

"Meet me in front of the school today if that's alright with you?" He looked a little concerned. "Y-yeah that's f-fine." I say as we start to walk to class. After my response I see his tail start to wag. Soo cute.

4 Hours Later

We get out for lunch. I only have half a day because I have work to go to. I texted Blake "I have work today from 2-6 p.m. Do you mind waiting?" I hit send. 

As I wait for his response I pack my things and Head to my car. As I get in my car my phones buzzes.

1 unknown message

That must be Blake. I open my phone to read what he sent. "I also have work from 2-5 p.m. It works out perfectly." I sent him this, "If you had work then why say to meet up after school?" 

I got home and took another shower for work. I work at Starbucks as a cashier. I got to my room to get my work clothes and see if Blake responded. He did.

"Hehe sorry, I got caught up in the moment that I kinda forgot." I set my phone down and once I lifted my paw from my phone it started to ring.

I pick it up not knowing who it is."Hello?" I had my shirt on and now i'm putting my pants on. "Hey Lucas, remember who I am?" I hear the voice say.

"Hey Jase, how's it going over there?" I heard a surprised gasp from the other end that was cutoff. "How did you know!?" Jase said with a surprised tone.

"Just because you have a twin doesn't mean you can fool everyone. And before you ask, no I did not look at the caller ID when I picked it up." Satisfied with my answer I put my phone on speaker while I finish getting dressed for work.

"What ya doing Lucas?" Jase asked. "I'm getting ready for work. What are you doing calling at this time?" Knowing that he was suppose to be in middle school  right now.

"Uh..I can't tell you." Jase said. "Well since you can't tell me I got to go or I'll be late for work. Bye Jase." "Bye Lucas" I finish getting ready and head to work.

Blake's P.O.V. 

As soon as I got off work I rushed home to shower for the third time. Before I got in I texted Lucas to know where he lives. I thought I could pick him up there after he got home from work.

I took a quick shower giving me enough time to drive to his house. I checked my phone and he responded with his address. I got my wallet with my card and ID in case I needed it. Then I head out the door.

30 Minutes Later

Lucas's P.O.V.

Today was not the bad, at least rush hour didn't pack the place. "I need a shower" I think desperately wanting to just go home and fall asleep.

 As I pull up to my house I see a Blue corvette parked in my drive way. "I wonder if that's Blake's car?" As I pull up he waved at me from inside his car. He rolled down his driver side window.

"Hey Lucas, I was wondering when you would get home. I also want to take you to eat out or something. You okay with that?" 

"Yeah, sure. Let me just freshen up a bit and I'l be back down." I said blushing a little bit. I don't think he noticed because he didn't say anything.

20 minutes later I come out the door in a dark grey hoodie and black pants. I get into Blake's car. As I got in I looked at Blake and started to blush again. "Where you want to go..cutie?" He said it as if he wasn't sure if he was okay to say that. I blush a deeper red almost matching my hair.

I manage to mutter out sonic and he chuckles a little which makes me a little mad but I blush as red as a tomato. " D-don't laugh a-at m-me." I stutter out still blushing. 

It was a 10 minute drive to Sonics and decide to park instead of the drive thru. We order our food then wait as it gets here. We made small talk about school, what we plan on doing after high school and what college we go to. Our food gets there and we thank the waitress. Blake had an idea of where to eat so I agreed and he drove us away from Sonic.

We were at a quiet place that showed all the stars when you looked up. We went out onto the hood of his car and started to eat. We finished our food in silence then we just lay down and watched the night sky.

"I'm sorry for running away. Like I said this morning, bad memories." My ears were drooping as I started to remember yet again. Tears threatening to roll down my cheek. "Not long after you left a friend of mine did the same thing to me." Blake said just barely audible. 

When I looked over he was quietly sobbing. I moved closer to him blushing a little and hugged him. He was a little surprised but then hugged back a little tighter.

"Should I tell him?" I thought. A few minutes passed as we both calmed down. "Here goes nothing." I whisper to myself. "H-hey Blake, I think l-love you." I was blushing so hard I thought I would faint.

Blake caught me off guard, I don't know how but he did. "I think love you too, Lucas." We both sat close to each other while gazing at he stars.

After awhile, I started to tell Blake my story. About halfway through the story I was crying and leaned against his chest. After I calmed down a bit I continued my story. When I was finished I was crying again. When I look up at him he was...he was crying to. I leaned against him and he wrapped his arms around me, making me feel safe.

After some time had passed we both were calm. I was still leaning against his chest. Then he started to tell me his story. Fresh tears came down both our cheeks. After he was done we laid down just looking up at the night sky. 

2 stars shone brighter than the others for a split second then a lone star did the same thing.

"They're watching us." I said to Blake. "I guess they are." Blake said in response. We both just stayed there with me on his chest and his arm around me. 

"It's getting late. We should go home." I yawned when I finished speaking. "Okay you tired pup, lets get you home." Blake texted his mom to see if he could spend the night at my house and she said yes.

It was midnight by the time we got to my place. I fell asleep on the way there and woke up with him carrying me to my room. He put me on my bed and was about to head out the door. I whimpered a little wanting him to sleep with me.

"Okay pup, I'll stay with you. He closes my bedroom door and gets into bed with my. He puts his arm over me. For once I feel safe in my own room. "I love you Blake" I whisper. "I love you too, cutie" Blake whispers back.

I fall asleep knowing that he is with me. Maybe this was fate that brought us together.
