Chapter 7

His dark eye stared into yours. It was like everything froze around you.

How do I always get myself into these situations?

You weren't sure how long you both stayed like that. But your face was as red as a tomato and you knew it.

You let go of his shirt and moved out of his grasp to stand up. Once on your feet you nervously looked at the three of them. Crossing your arms over your chest and already chewing slightly at your nails.

"The kids are probably wondering where we are." And with that you speedily walked back inside.

Your head felt foggy as you walked back to the table. Still trying to understand what just happened.

What in the world is going on?

You sighed as you reached your teammates and took your seat again.

"What took you guys so long? It's been like 15 minutes" Sakura questioned.

You were a little surprised by her asking. You honestly didn't think they noticed your absence that much.

"Uh... We just got caught up taking. That's all." You responded. Your eyes didn't meet theirs. But instead focused on the refilled drink in front of you.

She nodded in response and started talking to Naruto again.  "Hey, you okay?" Sasuke whispered. Leaning in closer so no one else heard.

You nodded and gave him a soft smile. "Yeah. I'm fine. Thank you though."

He could tell you were lying. But didn't wanna push. "Okay, then."

At that moment the three missing from your table arrived. Each taking their original seats.

Thankfully.

You avoided looking in their direction. Instead took a sip of your drink. The cold liquid soothed your dry throat and cooled your hot skin where it touched.

You hadn't even realized how hot you had gotten. Or how fast your heart was beating. It felt as though it could just fly out of your chest at any second.

"Oh my! What youthfulness surrounds me!"

Just when I thought this couldn't get any worse..

You turned and looked at the one and only, Might Gai. Along with Lee, TenTen, and Neji at his side.

"Hey guys. What are you doing here?" Asuma asked curiously.

"We just got done with training! We've been at it all day! And Guy Sensei wanted to reward us for all of our hard work!" Lee exclaimed. Pride clear in his voice.

You guys ended up moving to a bigger booth so everyone could fit better. This time a really long rectangle table. TenTen and Sakura sat across from you on one side. You and Kurenai on the other. But you took the seat on the end. Purposely so you weren't able to see Kakashi.

The boys all sat together on the other end of the booth. Similar to how you all sat.

"So what did Gai Sensei make you guys do all day?" You asked TenTen. You wondered what he could have had them doing so late. Considering by now it was about 8.

She grumbled and leaned against her hand.

"The better question is what didn't he have us do. First be made us run like 50 laps around one of the training fields first thing. I'm so sore I don't think bathing in oil would be able to help me move better."

You all laughed at her uncontrollably at this.

"Man, he really doesn't let up does he?"Kurenai joined.
