She was running around the track, the wind blowing in her long hair and sweat glistening on her tanned skin. She was perfect. Jackson sighed fustratedly. Why did he have to be just a recruit while she was an officer? An officer from America at that? He still remembered when he first saw her.

----Flashback----

"Privates," Sargent Lee announced, his deep vice resonating off the training room walls. "This is your new translator, Ms. Lou. She's from America and will help you communicate with the American soliders on the battlefeild. She is this battalion's special translator. She will also be training with you. Welcome her."

We all bowed and she bowed back. I loved her instantly.

She was small and petite but very strong looking. She smiled at all of us and my heart nearly stopped. I needed to make her love me, but I couldn't.

From that day on, I stalked her.

----End Flashback----

She found the old music room and in her spare time, she liked to play the piano and sing. She had a beautiful voice. When he could, Jackson liked to sit outside under the window and listen.

She would sing in different languages, always seeming to make them flow togeather in the most perfect way. Jackson thought that it was amazing.

One day, she adruptly stopped playing and opened the window, looking down at Jackson. His eyes widened and his cheeks flushed red. "Wanna come in?" she asked in chinese. "It's better than hearing through a wall."

Jackson nodded and climbed through the window. As she sat back down at the piano, he stood akwardly in the corner. "Ms. Lou?"

"Anjali," she corrected him.

Jackson nodded and gluped.

"Ms. Anjali, how did you know I was chinese?"

"I've read all the record on all of the troops in our battalion. I feel as if I know each of you personally."

"Oh, wow. Thanks cool!"

Anjali nodded. "Ya know, Jackson, you should be training harder with your rifles."

"What do you mean?"

"You're not the bestshot. That could get you killed when we head to the front lines in a few weeks."

"Wait, we're going to the frontlines?"

Anjali nodded sadly and stood up. "Goodbye Jackson. Please work harder. I don't want to see you die."

Jackson nodded and Anjali smiled before leaving him alone in the old music room.

----Three Weeks Later---

"I can't let this happen without telling her," Jackson thought as he finished putting his bag into the army truck that was to take them to the battlefield. He could she Anjali sitting, praying by herself. He went and sat down next to her.

Anjali looked up and smiled. "Yes Jackson?"

"I have something I need to tell you."

"I'm listening."

Jackson's palms became sweaty and if he hadn't already been sitting, his knees would have been shaking so hard that he would've fallen over. "I just, want you to know before we go to battle. Ya know, in case something happens and I can't tell you later. I love you Anjali." Jackson covered his red face in embarressment.

Anjali gently pried his hands away from his face and looked down at them. "Ya know," she said gently. "My contract with the American airforce is over next October. So, if you wanna meet me when you get out of the army in the following January?" Anjali looked up at Jackson, her eyes hopeful.

"You like me too?" Jackson asked. Anjali nodded and Jackson hugged her quickly before anyone saw. "Everything will be fine on the battefield, you'll see! And in two years time, we'll have a family of our own!" Jackson was so excited, he almost missed role call.

As he climbed into his truck, he smiled and waved at Anjali who was in another truck. She blushed, smiled, and waved back.
