The sun poured in through the window as fourteen-year-old Andy opened his precious blue eyes, yawning softly as took his blue Batman blanket off of his slender body. He stared at his blank, white walls, wondering why he had to get up so early on a Saturday morning. He had woken up from his parents' alarm, which he had heard from his own room due to it being so close to his parents' room. Andy always had hyper in the morning once he sat for a moment, so he quickly got up and zoomed into his parents' room. "Mum! Dad!" he giggled, bouncing a little on his heels.
His mum got up first, obviously being the kinder parent by her next actions. She gently ran a hand through Andy's messy hair and smiled softly, kissing a gentle kiss on his forehead. "Good morning, Andy," she stated softly, shaking his dad awake and then turning off the alarm. "Ready for today?"
Andy wasn't aware of much, for his parents kept the 'secret' from him, but he figured it was something partially good and partially bad due to how the secret was kept from him. He nodded a little, unsure if he should show happiness or sorrow. "Yeah, Mum, I'm... ready." He looked down at himself; he was wearing a black Batman onesie with a yellow cape. He wasn't physically ready, but he was mentally ready.
His mum chuckled softly, getting out of the bed and walking into Andy's room to pack his things for him; she loved to do easy things for him. His dad sat up and groaned, rubbing his eyes. "Get in the shower, Andrew, we're leaving at ten."
Andy just nodded. "Yes, Dad," he stated softly, grabbing some clothes from his room and then hopping in the showerstall once he was undressed. He let the warm water drip down his skinny body, closing his eyes as his hair became soaked and it dripped other water down his face, sighing softly before washing himself. He got out, dried his body, and dressed in casual wear, which to him was dark-coloured skinny jeans and a tight band shirt, then brushing his hair and cleaning up the bathroom before walking into the kitchen.
His mother was skilled; she had already made Andy breakfast and got his stuff together in a backpack by the time the boy had walked into the room. He sat down and looked down at his latkes for a moment, wondering what was such a big deal that his stuff was being packed up? He pondered about it as he ate his food and then washed the plate and fork off, heading back upstairs. Andy brushed and flossed his teeth, did mouthwash, washed his face, and then dabbed off his hair with a towel. He grabbed his backpack and headed downstairs, smiling softly up at his mum. "I'm ready now, Mum, I'm ready."
His parents grabbed the car key and sighed, leading Andy to the car. Andy got into the back and put on his seatbelt, slowly putting in his earphones and getting out his third-generation iPod from his jacket's pocket. He played My Chemical Romance's newest album, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, and leaned back in his seat as he looked out the window.
Andy watched the scenery as he listened to the album, his shiny azure eyes scanning the forests that a highway they travelled on cut through. He saw a deer and he smiled brightly, turning his body a little as he gazed at the animal lovingly.
His father wasn't buying it. "Sit right, Andrew."
Andy nodded and turned back so his body was facing forwards, nodding his head respectfully. "Yes, Dad," he answered again, sighing softly.
Soon enough, the car pulled up to a comfortable seeming home. As his parents pulled into the small driveway, he stopped the music and tilted his head. Andy followed his parents to the front door and heard his mum knock on the door. Being the shy boy he was, Andy bit on his lip and looked at the ground, staying by his parents.
In response to the knock, a tall male with a slim-fitting black shirt and jeans that were coloured black on one leg and red on the other answered the door, looking at Andy's mum with sincere happiness in his eyes. "Hello, Amy," he stated softly, then looking at Andy's dad and nodding his head toward him, not really wanting to speak to him. He looked down at Andy and smiled. "You must be Andy."
Andy was shy; he gripped his mum's hand with one hand and held his backpack's strap with the other, looking up at the male innocently. "H-Hi..." he replied bashfully, biting his lip as he stuffed his earphones and device in his jacket's pocket.
Andy's parents told the male a few things about the boy, then they left. "Bye, Mum! Bye, Dad!" he called out happily, waving a little before the car pulled out of the driveway and sped off. That was the last time Andy would see his parents for a very long time, but he didn't know that.
The other male was his uncle, in fact; he was his mum's brother. "Come in now! My wife's out at the moment, you'll meet her soon, oh, she's going to love you." He held the door open and gestured for his nephew to come in. "This is the humble abode, the Zuhause, Villa White, if you will. Oh, uh, I'm your uncle, if you don't recall from the last thirteen Christmases. You could refer to me as Uncle Jack if you wish."
Andy nodded and walked inside, looking around. There was many things on the walls and the enire home was themed; it was all red, white, and black, mostly. Andy grinned in amazement as his uncle closed the door, "It looks awesome!"
And that's when Andy knew that his stay with Uncle Jack would be an amazing experience.
