Mikasa?" I called out, unlocking the door to her flat and walking in. "You there?"

My adopted sister peeked out from her room, a towel wrapped firmly around her hair, with a toothbrush hanging from her mouth. She spoke in incoherent sentences.

"I can't understand you."

She went to the bathroom, spitting out. "I'm here, what do you want?" She repeated.

"I think I found my mate." I said nonchalantly, watching as her jaw dropped.

"You freakin' what?!"

"His name's Levi Rivaille, he's an AoL. I don't know much about him or his upbringing, but he's 23 in human years."

She nodded slowly as I spoke, taking in my words carefully and processing them before responding. "... I don't know of a Rivaille family up there." She finally said.

"Me neither." I replied, "But I should trust him, right? Mates shouldn't lie to each other, and AoLs literally can't lie. I've seen his wings, Mika, they're beautiful."

She smiled softly. "You look happy. Slightly uneasy, but happy."

I smiled back. "I think I am. I mean, there's a lot of things I don't know and there are a load of uncomfortable silences, but I really do want things to work out. At the end of the day, he's my mate."

The ravenette pulled me into a hug, squeezing me tightly. "I'm sure it'll all work out."

I nodded. "Wanna go get cake?"

"Sure," she replied with a laugh.

I was still confused about the whole Levi situation, if not slightly uncomfortable with what happened. I understood the want for privacy whether mates or not, but it put me on edge how he'd find different ways to change the topic. He'd give me a look that made my mind go blank, or bring up something else so I'd forget. I'd rather he just say he doesn't want to talk about it.

I was lying in my room, the time 3:46 AM, with vast amounts of empty space around me. I'd cleared my apartment on the pretext of 'needing more space', although I'm partially sure that it's because of Levi's last reaction. He didn't seem to be a fan of messes, and our encounters tended to be awkward enough without him hating where I lived.

Letting out a quick huff of air, I pulled myself out of bed. It was Sunday morning, so I might as well go to church today, and if I wasn't getting sleep then there was no time better than now to get dressed.

Once I'd put on my black skinny jeans and white button down, I grabbed my phone and went to make some coffee.

Eren: Hey Levi, it's Eren here. Sorry I didn't message sooner. I know it's early so I'm not expecting a reply until later, but I was wondering whether you wanted to meet up later? It's Sunday so I was thinking we could go to church followed by brunch or something. Sound okay?

Levi: Can we go after church? I'm down with brunch though.

Eren: Coolio. You probably have things to sort out on a Sunday morning, so we could meet somewhere around 11-12?

Levi: Can I wait at your house?

Eren: It's not really a house, but feel free. Should I leave a window open or should I leave a key in my mailbox thingy?

Levi: Keys, please.

Eren: Kay. I'm in apartment 104.
